Disney World Dining Plan Cost: Is It Worth It Or Should You Pay Out Of Pocket (2026/7)
On This Page

Dining plans are an add-on extra people staying in a Disney hotel can choose to book and they’re not worth it for everyone. They’re definitely not necessary. Long before you’re working up an appetite, and fancying a snack walking 20,000 steps a day you have the decision of whether to pay for food as you go or to buy one of the three types of dining plan. Understanding real in-park costs and knowing the type of dining experiences you want, as well as considering the food types available and portion sizes, are all a big part of deciding if a dining plan is worth it for your Disney Holiday from the UK.
How much do dining plans cost UK visitors?
Dining plans start from £47.99 a night, and go up to £124.99 a night for Deluxe Table-Service in 2027. Unless there’s an offer for a free dining plan, choosing to add one on increases the cost of staying in an on-site Disney hotel. For a lot of UK holidaymakers, booking in advance and making the most of Disney’s free dining plan offer is the best and most cost-effective way to get a dining plan. When choosing to pay for a dining plan on top of your holiday cost, working out the value your family will get from it is key to deciding if a dining plan is worth it for your trip. With no one size fits all answer, the first place to start is the price.
2026 Dining Plan costs for 7 and 14 nights
Plan | 7 Nights Cost (age 10+, per person) | 14 nights Cost (age 10+, per person) |
|---|---|---|
Disney Quick Service Dining Plan | £349.93 | £699.86 |
Disney Dining Plan | £559.93 | £1,119.86 |
In 2026, kids eat free all year with the new Disney offer, so children in the party aged 3-9 aren’t charged for a dining plan when the adults buy a dining plan, that’s why there is no child price included above.
2027 dining plan costs per night
The kids eat free offer does not extend into 2027, but the free UK’s free drinks and dining offer is on now, meaning early bookers can get free food and drinks included in the cost of staying in a Disney hotel, when buying a hotel and ticket package on select dates.
7-night dining plan cost comparison 2027
With no free child offer this year, dining plan options cost:
Plan | 7 night cost per child | 7 nights cost per person aged 10+ |
|---|---|---|
Quick Service Dining Plan | £139.93 | £335.93 |
Table Service Plan | £174.93 | £538.93 |
Deluxe Table Service Dining Plan | £251.93 | £874.93 |
14-night dining plan cost comparison 2027
Over 14 nights, the costs per person are:
Plan | 14 night cost per child | 14 nights cost per person aged 10+ |
|---|---|---|
Quick-Service Dining Plan | £279.86 | £671.86 |
Table-Service Dining Plan | £349.86 | £1,077.86 |
Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan | £503.86 | £1,749.86 |
Dining plan prices vary, so knowing when it’s worth upgrading from the cheapest dining plan option: the quick-service dining plan to a more expensive dining plan option is part of understanding how much it costs to buy food at Disney World without a dining plan.
How to decide if the dining plan’s worth it?
When choosing whether a dining plan is worth adding to your Disney holiday package these are the questions I always advise people to ask themselves:
1: How much do you eat? Disney adult portions are larger than UK portions, so you may find there is too much food with any dining plan option.
2: Are you planning to just stay at Disney? When heading to other parks and places regularly, you’re likely to want to eat out there so the dining plan is not worth the cost for you.
3: Are you booking a hire car? You can save money on similar food by purchasing it in other quick style outlets, restaurants, and supermarkets. Venturing beyond Disney World means you won’t want to head back to eat, and credits pile-up unused.
4: Do you worry about the food budget for your holiday? If yes, a dining plan will give you piece of mind and alleviate worry about budgeting for food.
5: Are you happy to plan? With both table-service plans you’ll want to book reservations. If you don’t want to plan days around dining experiences choose the quick-service or skip the dining plan.
Dining plans vs. paying out of pocket: what’s the differences?
The dining plans work on an average cost for a meal, drink and snack, that gives you a daily price for the package you buy before your holiday and then when you’re in Disney World you pick what you want from the included list of items in exchange for credits. This means you can end up with food that would have cost you more had you paid out of pocket, but it also means you can end up paying more to use a dining plan if you don’t use all your credits. When you pay out of pocket, you pick what you fancy from the menu and pay using cash or credit card.
Can you buy resort mugs without a dining plan and do they add value?
Included in all dining plan options, the resort refillable mug is not an exclusive dining plan item. They can be bought separately for a one-time cost of £17.24 ($22.99) plus tax in 2026. They work the same for everyone, with or without a dining plan, and add value to a holiday for anyone staying on-site. See just how much you can save at Is A Resort Refillable Mug Worth Buying: Calculate Your Savings.
While resort refillable mugs definitely add value to a dining plan, it’s an insignificant cost in larger dining plan cost analysis for a UK visitor staying on-site for 14 days. The mug’s cost is equivalent to about 37% of the cost of one day’s quick-service dining plan, so the longer you stay on-site and use the mug, the less relevant the mug saving becomes to the overall dining plan cost. On a 14-night stay, the refillable mug works out at between 2-3% of the overall dining plan cost.
Cost comparison: Quick-Service Dining Plans vs. paying as you go
The best way to show if a dining plan is worth it is to use a real example. This is a full day’s quick service allocation and an example of how much it would cost to pay for it out of pocket.
Disney Quick Service Dining Plan / Quick Service Dining Plan (nightly amount) | Pay As You Go Costs |
|---|---|
1 quick-service meal and 1 drink | Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café, Magic Kingdom opens in a new tab Quick-service meal: 4 chicken strips and fries from Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Magic Kingdom: £8.77 ($11.70) Drink: Fountain Drink: £3.80 ($5.07) Total = £12.58 ($16.77) |
1 quick-service meal and 1 drink | Everything POP Food Court opens in a new tab Quick-service meal: Sesame Chicken £9.74 ($12.99) (plus tax) =£10.37 ($13.83)
|
1 snack | Waffle with Chocolate Hazelnut Spread, Bananas, Berries and Whipped Cream: £7.81 ($10.42) |
Cost of dining plan: £47.99 | Cost of paying out of packet: £38.94 ($51.93) |
The comparison of paying out of pocket vs using the quick-service plan shows it’s not worth it:
- Paying out of pocket is cheaper than paying in advance using these examples
Is a quick-service dining plan worth it?
As most quick service meals cost less than £11.24 ($14.99). A UK visitor would need to choose the most expensive options for food and drink every time using the quick service dining plan for it to be financially worth it. While some people can break even, or beat the dining plan, the quick-service is the least worth it option for most UK visitors, and it’s about more than cost.
- food choices are smaller
- if you’re a vegetarian, food choices get repetitive and it takes significantly more planning to find different options during a 14-night stay.
- if you have a hire car, you’ll find yourself wanting to try other food options and this leaves you with more credits left over
- people who do not drink alcohol will not find this option worth it
- most 10-12 year olds can find the amount of food from an adult quick-service too much
Cost comparison: Table-Service Dining Plan vs. pay as you go
This is an example of one night’s full allowance, credits do not need to be used daily.
Disney Dining Plan / Table Service Dining Plan | Pay As You Go example |
1 quick-service meal and 1 drink | EPCOT - Connections Eatery opens in a new tab Pepperoni Pizza £8.99 ($11.99) (plus tax) = £9.57 ($12.76) Drink: Belgian Chocolate Gelato Shake £5.99 ($7.99) (plus tax) = £6.38 ($8.51) Total (including tax) = £15.95 ($21.27) |
1 table-service meal – 1 main and 1 desert or entrée and a drink | Animal Kingdom: Yak and Yeti opens in a new tab Chicken Tikka Masala: £22.35 ($29.80) New York Cheesecake: £10.37 ($13.83) Daou Cabernet Sauvignon: £12.78 ($17.04) Total (including tax) = £45.50 ($60.67) |
1 snack or drink | Amorette’s Patisserie, Disney Springs opens in a new tab Lemon Blueberry Cheesecake: £6.94 ($9.25) (plus tax) Total (including tax) = £7.39 ($9.85) |
Dining plan cost per night: £79.99 | Cost of paying out of pocket, with tax is: £68.83 ($91.79) |
|---|
In this scenario, just as with the quick-service dining plan, you wouldn’t break even on this days dining plan cost in comparison to paying out of pocket. From a price perspective it is not worth it. However, the Disney Dining Plan / Table-Service dining plan includes show dining packages, like Fantasmic!, and character dining, which are more expensive table service options.
Does choosing character dining make the Table-Service Dining Plan worth it?
Table-service Dining Plan | Pay As You Go |
1 quick-service meal | Hollywood Studios: Woody’s Lunch Box opens in a new tab Grilled Three Cheese Sandwich: £8.77 ($11.70) Drink: Simply Orange: £4.46 ($5.95) Total (including tax): £13.24 ($17.65) |
1 table-service meal | Chef Mickey (character dining Dinner buffet) opens in a new tab Dinner buffet: £55.10 ($73.48) Pink Spritzer Zero Proof Cocktail: £10.78 ($14.37) Total (including tax) = £65.88 ($87.85) |
1 snack or drink | Milk Stand, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal: £8.62 ($11.49) Total (including tax) = £8.62 ($11.49) |
Cost per night = £79.99 | Pay as you go cost (including tax) = £87.73 ($116.99) |
|---|
Paying out of pocket vs using the table-service plan shows it’s not always worth it for table-service meals, but is worth it for character dining table service dining experiences.
In this comparison it shows that the Disney Dining Plan is worth buying, when you use your table service credit for a Disney Character Dining Experience. It is worth noting though, that there is a suggested tip of £13.18 ($17.57) on this for parties under 5 people, and for parties of 6 or more this extra cost would be something you would need to pay on the day. The Disney dining plan can save you quite a bit of money if you want to enjoy character and show dining packages during your trip.
Is Table-Service Dining Plan worth it for UK visitors?
This example highlights that for some days and dining experiences a table-service dining plan is worth it, but for a UK visitor on a 14-night holiday it’s probably not worth it unless you plan to eat at character dining every day, and make the most from a quick-service meal and snack. Because UK visitors spend more time on-site, the dining plan does loose value on the days you don’t break even; it’s why planning a split stay and staying in a Disney hotel for 4 nights with a table-service dining plan is worth more and you get more from the dining plan, than spending 14 nights using it.
- Mainly eating at character experiences: it’s worth it
- you’ll need to book dining reservations for the length of your stay, especially for popular restaurants
- some table-service restaurant options won’t match the price and you don’t break even
- it’s convenient and you get to try a variety of Disney dining and food, which is worth it of you don’t have a hire car
- Tipping is not included in the cost and expected at table-service locations, and included in the receipt if you have 6 or more in your group.
Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan vs paying out of pocket
The 2027 deluxe table service dining plan includes one extra table service meal. This is an example of how that could look as a paid out of pocket expense:
Deluxe Table Service Dining Plan = £124.99 | Pay As You Go |
1 quick-service meal | Hollywood Studios: Woody’s Lunch Box Grilled Three Cheese Sandwich: £8.77 ($11.70) Drink: Simply Orange £4.46 ($5.95) Total (including tax): £13.24 ($17.65) |
1 table-service meal | Chef Mickey (character dining Dinner buffet) Dinner buffet £55.10 ($73.48) Pink Spritzer Zero Proof Cocktail: £10.78 ($14.37) Total (including tax) = £65.88 ($87.85) |
1 table-service meal | Toppolinos Terrace breakfast opens in a new tab Breakfast buffet: £43.13 ($57.51) So Many Wishes mocktail: £5.42 ($7.23) Total (including tax) = £48.55 ($64.74) |
1 snack or drink | Milk Stand, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge opens in a new tab Tenoo Swirl Crunchies Cereal = £8.62 ($11.49) (plus tax) Total (including tax) = £8.62 ($11.49) |
One night cost = £124.99 | Paying out of pocket cost (including tax) = £138.53 ($184.73) |
|---|
If you plan to enjoy two table service meals a day, this is going to be worth it for most UK visitors, even without alcoholic drinks. The thing with this dining plan is going to be the amount of food, and the number of days you will be eating that many big Disney sized meals. If dining is a big part of your Disney holiday plans, this is a good option, but keep in mind how many days you plan to stay for. Over 14-nights, this might be too much, plus you do need to consider tipping costs twice a day for 7 -14 nights, which would be extra on top of the cost.
Is a dining plan worth it?
When it’s free, yes; if you’re looking for convenience and peace of mind, yes; at every other time UK visitors need to work out what dining experiences they want, how much time will be spent in Disney World and how much you eat on a daily basis. Light eaters, people who do not drink alcoholic drinks, and and non-meat eaters may struggle to find a quick-service plan is worth it. If you have a hire car this also changes how you’ll approach the dining plan. For many UK visitors a shorter stay on Disney property makes a dining plan better value if you’re staying on property. The time to consider a dining plan for longer is when you intend to stay on-site without a hire car and only want to experience Disney World.
Overall a dining plan is a personal choice and there isn’t a right or wrong choice for UK holidays.
