EPCOT Ultimate UK Visitor's Guide
On This Page

EPCOT is the park where you can grab a coffee and walk the cultures of the world in a morning, while experiencing thrill rides and contemplating whether Spaceship Earth is a golf ball, a pixie dust generator, or simply a feat of Disney Imagineering. A favourite amongst many Disney adults, this park is more about the atmosphere and festivals than the ride experiences.
What To Expect From A 2026 EPCOT Park Day?
UK visitors will find EPCOT an unusual experience. From museum style exhibits that give Liverpool World Museum vibes, to thrill rides, and a huge range of snacks, EPCOT is Walt Disney World's most seasonal park. Every visit I have had is shaped what festival is on, if any.
As the UK Magic Ticket gives flexibility and more time, I approach EPCOT in two different ways to get the most from it. To read more about how I plan EPCOT with a UK Magic Ticket head to: EPCOT itinerary and planning with a UK Magic Ticket.
Often I plan a day to do the rides and a few snacks and experience EPCOT as a theme park, and then a day to slow down and take in the culture and the festivals at a slower pace. That’s why I always say EPCOT is a two day park at minimum, because there are different worthwhile experiences to have here.
In 2026, this is the only Disney World Park that feels complete, without permanent construction walls for the year, giving EPCOT an even greater appeal. With a limited time overlay on Soarin’, Soarin’ Around America from 26th May this is the only major change in the park in 2026, beyond Remy becoming 2D and Frozen Ever After getting animatronic upgrades.
What’s Coming To EPCOT In The Near Future?
It was announced at D23 that two major ride refurbishments would be happening at EPCOT to classic fan-favourite rides:
- Spaceship Earth is being reimagined
- Dreamfinder is returning to Journey Into The imagination With Figment.
Dates have not been announced for the ride closures, but they are coming in the near future, and it is likely to be in 2027, although this is not confirmed.
Bucket-List EPCOT Rides
EPCOT’s attractions are a collection of immersive and cultural experiences; with around a dozen major rides. The park has a few unmissable headliner attractions that always draw high crowds and have high wait times. For most UK visitors, these are also the bucket list rides:
- Frozen Ever After opens in a new tab
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens in a new tab
- Test Track 3.0 opens in a new tab
- Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens in a new tab
There are also a few other rides you can't miss, but that don't tend to have very high wait times the majority of days. These are:
- Soarin' Across America opens in a new tab: A limited-time 250 years of America celebratory overlay that you can't miss if you're visiting in 2026
- Spaceship Earth opens in a new tab: Iconic and classic slow moving dark ride, and I just love Dame Judi Dench's narration
- Journey Into Imagination With Figment opens in a new tab: This is a marmite ride and if you have sensory issues with smells, it could be one for you to skip.
Navigating your way around without missing some of the lesser show style attractions can be tricky, as they’re hidden away at the back of pavilions in World Showcase. While these attractions are not the headline must-dos and you can skip them, they are the attractions that add to the cultural side of EPCOT.
EPCOT Festivals
EPCOT runs four major festivals across the calendar year. Visiting during a festival transforms your experience of EPCOT, from the decorations to the snacks and drinks on offer, each festival gives EPCOT a different feel. EPCOT without a festival is a different experience and it changes the length of time I plan to spend in the park on a trip. Without a festival, I tend to spend less time there.
Getting Around EPCOT: Neighbourhoods
EPCOT is nearly twice the size of Magic Kingdom, but navigating the park is easy to do, partly because of the entrances. EPCOT is the only Disney World park with two entrances; one opening onto World Showcase and one into World Celebration. The park is also the best connected to the other theme parks, so it’s a great place to park hop from making it an ideal half day park, even though it’s easy to spend a full day in EPCOT.
EPCOT is split into four distinct areas called neighbourhoods, each with a unique theme:
Neighbourhood | Vibe | Highlight |
|---|---|---|
World Celebration | Main entrance and hub | Spaceship Earth and a photo at Dreamer’s Point |
World Discovery | Home of thrills | Guardians of the Galaxy and Test Track 3.0 |
World Nature | Ocean and earth themed attractions | Soarin’ and Journey of Water |
World Showcase | Global culture | 11 countries with unique food, drinks, and experiences to explore |
EPCOT’s Night-time show: Luminous Symphony of Us
Luminous: The Symphony of Us launched in 2023, replacing Harmonious, and is EPCOT's only current night-time spectacular. It takes place over World Showcase Lagoon and is a highlight for many UK visitors.

The show runs for around 12 minutes, once a night around 9pm, (although always check the app for exact showtimes during your holiday), and you can expect to see a show with:
- Floating illuminated set pieces permanently anchored in the lagoon, which come alive with projected imagery during the show
- Choreographed fountains that react to the music
- Fireworks launched from barges on the water
- Laser projections cast across mist screens and buildings
- A commissioned score woven from Disney film soundtracks, themed around global unity and human connection
Is It Worth Staying To Watch?
Yes, it's worth staying to watch Luminous Symphony of Us at least once during your holiday from the UK. But if you plan more than one night in EPCOT over a two-week period you can skip it, or find somewhere to just watch the fireworks part.
While it’s an amazing show, don’t feel you have to watch it more than once because you're there; for me, once during a trip is essential but then I'm done. It comes down to personal choice, but after you've seen the show you'll know whether you need to see it again during your holiday.
Do You Need Lightning Lanes at EPCOT?
No, you don’t need Lightning Lanes for EPCOT, but they can help reduce the amount of time you’ll spend waiting in line for the most popular rides including:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- Frozen Ever After
- Test Track 3.0
Morning strategies are a free way to get lower wait times and beat the cost of buying Lightning Lanes. You can completely skip the need to buy a Lightning Lane Single Pass by heading to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind if you have Early Entry, but the queue can be at an hour plus in time for Rope Drop only 30 minutes later on busy days.
Using Rope Drop or Early Entry to skip Lightning Lane Single Pass is a great way to save money and time. The Lightning Lane option most UK guests will want to consider is Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
When to consider Lightning Lane Multi Pass at EPCOT
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is best used at EPCOT when wait times are high. UK visitors are best booking Lightning Lane Multi Pass as soon as reservation window open to make the most of the ride options. Here is a general overview of when to consider Lightning Lane Multi Pass:
- Consider a LLMP during the first half of UK summer holidays, Easter, last weekend in May due to Memorial weekend, Thanksgiving, EPCOT Festival opening days, Christmas. This is when queues for Frozen, Remy's, and Soarin' regularly exceed 60–90 minutes and Lightning Lane Multi Pass can save 2–3 hours of queuing across a day.
- Maybe consider LLMP during shoulder seasons, those periods just after busy times where more people have time off so crowds can spike. If you rope drop the two biggest queuing attractions and head to EPCOT twice with a 7 or 14 day ticket, you can often get through the big rides without significant waits.
- Don’t bother with LLMP during most of January, February, early May and early November. Queues are genuinely manageable and rope drop strategy serves most groups well.
If you do choose to go for a Lightning Lane option make sure you understand Disney World Lightning Lanes: Paying To Skip The Queue including how the system works and how to get the most out of it as a UK visitor.
Morning Strategy: Choosing Rope Drop Or Early Entry at EPCOT?
Whether you use Rope Drop or Early Entry will depend on whether you stay at a Disney World hotel, or you stay somewhere else. Early mornings in EPCOT are glorious, and there is nothing I love more than grabbing a coffee and walking World Showcase to just take in the vibes. For more detailed information on which entrances to use to get to rides fast and to find the best options for Early Entry head to EPCOT Early Entry Strategies: Two Entrances, Two Strategies.
Is EPCOT Good For Families?
EPCOT is a great park for families with children, even though it is gaining a reputation as being a favourite amongst Disney Adults because of the grown-up vibes and experiences. There is a play park, an aquarium, and Moana Journey Through Water is a big hit with kids of all ages on a hot day. It’s also got lots of covered spaces with things to look at and do to help keep littles entertained but out of the heat, plus the space between pavilions is manageable.
But did you know EPCOT is only one of two Disney World parks offering a free interactive scavenger hunt. In EPCOT, it’s called Kidcot.
KIDCOT: Perfect Free Activity For Families
Kidcot is a free stamp-collecting passport activity card to complete around EPCOT's World Showcase. It’s available at each of the 11 pavilions and is excellent for keeping younger children engaged as you walk the loop . It also makes a lovely memento, that you can just pick-up.
How Kidcot Works
At each of the 11 World Showcase pavilions, there’s a Kidcot Fun Stop opens in a new tab, usually staffed by a Cultural Representative. It’s easy to do, and works like this:
- Pick up a free Kidcot card at your first pavilion stop Complete the activity at the small desk.
- At each subsequent pavilion, find the Fun Stop and get your country-specific stamp.
- You can colour or decorate sections of the card at each stop.
- Complete the card for a small reward, usually a badge or sticker.
Kidcot is best for children aged approximately 4–10, but children any age can do it, even adults. During festival periods, Kidcot activity stops often include festival-themed additions such as extra stickers, craft activities, or themed stamps.
Eating and Drinking at EPCOT
EPCOT has a lot to offer when it comes to eating and drinking, from an ever changing menu set for seasonal festival booths, to staple dining options from around the world. EPCOT is a great place to eat and drink for families, and for UK visitors craving a taste of home the UK pavilion is the place to get it in Disney World.
Worthwhile Quick Service and Snacks at EPCOT
EPCOT has lots of food and drink you can just pick up, especially during Festivals at the Festival booths. In general, EPCOT has a variety of quick service dining options, but my favourites include:
- Connections Eatery opens in a new tab: at the front of the park to watch the monorail go by Guardians if the Galaxy and eat a chicken salad.
- Pizza Al Taglio opens in a new tab: A slice of pizza and a tiramisu used to be a well-kept secret but it’s popularity is growing!
- Festival food options: see what’s on the seasonal menus and go grab lunch at the festival.
If you’re after the UK option, fish and chips is not the same as at home, but is the closest you’ll get at Disney World. The Yorkshire County Fish Shop opens in a new tab (UK Pavilion) prices their beer-battered fish & chips for £10.87 ($14.49), plus tax.
If you’re looking for a snack, here are two great options available all year:
- Karamell-Küche opens in a new tab (Germany): Handmade caramel treats and popcorn.
- Kringla Bakery opens in a new tab (Norway): School Bread and Viking Coffee.
EPCOT Character Dining
There are two character dining options at EPCOT:
- The Garden Grill Restaurant opens in a new tab: Chip and Dale, Mickey and Pluto
- Askerhaus Royal Banquet Hall opens in a new tab: the princess option
You need a to be in the park on the day you plan to eat, or you’ll need to buy a park ticket. Both offer very different experiences, depending on the type of character experience you are looking for, and if you want a character breakfast you’ll need to head to the Garden Grill.
A reservation is advised for both, and booking character dining as soon as your reservation window opens is best, the same can be said for many of the table-service dining locations on World Showcase.
Dining in World Showcase
World Showcase is home to some a mix of cuisines and restaurant dining in all of Walt Disney World. From a meal that will set you back around £146.23 ($195.00), plus tax and tip, per person, at Monsieur Paul opens in a new tab (France) to more affordable dining experiences from around the world.
Here are some of the best table service options on World Showcase:
- Le Cellier Steakhouse opens in a new tab (Canada): one of the most sought-after dining reservations in the resort
- Teppan Edo opens in a new tab (Japan): teppanyaki chef-table experience
Drinking Around the World
Drinking Around The World is something that has grown in popularity over recent years with Disney adults and has many versions depending on who you speak to. In general people have a drink in different countries at the 11 pavilions. Expect to spend around £97.49 ($130.00) plus tax, or more if you choose to do this with alcoholic drinks.
EPCOT Hidden Freebies & Fun Extras
EPCOT is home to some other free, fun extra experiences that make for memorable experiences:
- Club Cool: Free Coca-Cola samples from around the world (try the Beverly... if you dare).
- Finding Dory's Friends: Free sticker booklet and scavenger hunt at The Seas.
- Festival Passport: Collect stamps and complete food challenges for fun souvenirs.
While the story behind EPCOT is interesting, this park also has an interesting future with plans to reimagine the classic and most iconic rides in the park underway in the near future. EPCOT is a great park to explore for UK visitors, and it’s great for missing storms and managing the heat.
