Hollywood Studios UK Guide

Hollywood Tower of Terror: would you ride?

Hollywood Studios feels compact in comparison to the other parks, but it has a glamour a distinct US Hollywood feel as you walk in that provides the perfect gateway to different lands. The home to Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land and currently the only park boasting a villain’s attraction, Hollywood Studios is a favourite amongst teenagers and thrill seekers.

Hollywood Studios: Rides UK Visitors Can’t Miss

Hollywood Studios is home to the most relatable rides linked to current film franchises, like Toy Story, that you immediately recognise and want to experience. Also home to a great range of thrill rides, most UK visitors aim to experience every ride at least once, but if you’re short on time, or just looking for the best options, these are the best rides UK visitors can’t miss in Hollywood Studios:

Overall the rides on offer in this park tend to appeal more to UK families with older children who relate to the characters, theming and enjoy more techy rides.

Best Hollywood Studios Rides At Night

Hollywood Studios has a lot going on at night, but when it comes to night-time ride experiences, this park is lacking because most rides are inside a building, even if the ride line isn’t. There is only one ride that is better at night in this park and that is:

  • Slinky Dog Dash: opens in a new tab The queue is cooler, but the lightning around the coaster and characters just lifts the whole experience. Plus it’s a cooler wait in the queue line.

Night-time riding at Hollywood Studios is less about the difference in the ride experience and more about how night-time show options impact wait times. UK visitors are uniquely positioned to take advantage of plummeting wait times in the last hour of park opening.

You can watch Fantasmic! 3 nights over 14 days of entry and still have time to pop into Hollywood Studios for 2 nights just to take advantage of lower wait times. By park hopping and chunking your daily park plans into morning, afternoon and evening hours, UK visitors can get the most out of what Hollywood Studios has to offer.

And there’s a lot more to experience in this park beyond the rides…

Hollywood Studios: Shows You Need To Plan For

The collection of shows on offer in Hollywood Studios are more interactive than in other parks, which means you get an air-con break but not the same 10 minute chill as you do in a lot of the shows in Magic Kingdom or EPCOT. Shows here have their own times, and don’t run continuously throughout the day because of the interactive elements, so being aware of the timing is important for your day. Most of the shows finish well in advance of park close.

Hollywood Studios is the second best park for show style attractions, and these are the unmissable ones:

For younger children, Hollywood Studios has a dance show that’s been newly rethemed for 2026 based on Mickey Moue Clubhouse shows from Disney+. Disney Jr Mickey Mouse Clubhouse live! opens in a new tab is a must if you have younger kids; think Disney quality but Haven entertainment vibes.

When it comes to shows, the night-time end of the day shows have a lot to offer…

Hollywood Studios Night-Time Shows

There are two nightly shows at Hollywood Studios, but only one is a must watch, the other’s more of a nice to catch:

  • Fantasmic!
  • Wonderful World of Animation

Fantasmic! is the best Disney night-time show, held twice nightly during peak times, it’s also the only night-time show with seating. Experiencing Fantasmic! is a huge holiday highlight for most UK visitors and not to be missed. Read about how you can get the most from the show:

Wonderful World of Animation is a nightly projection show on the Chinese theatre and surrounding buildings which is nice to catch, but not essential. If I had the choice between riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway and standing outside to see the projection show, I’d go and do the ride every time. It’s a nice show, and if you’re looking to stand and chill for a bit with a snack or drink then it’s worth it. You don’t need to get to the area in advance, and you can just walk over a few minutes before to catch the start.

Walking Around Hollywood Studios: Lands and Steps

Hollywood Studios is an easy park to navigate and fairly compact aside from the stretch of Sunset Boulevard leading to Fantasmic! You’ll do fewer steps overall, partly because getting into it from free Disney transport and the car park is easy.

Hollywood Studios has the largest number of lands of any of the Disney Parks with 9 different named areas, but what you need to know is why head to one land over another first?

Land

Head here first for…

Hollywood Boulevard

The street you’ll walk as you enter the park, it’s unavoidable

Echo Lake

Head here to Gertie the big dinosaur and for Indiana Jones and Frozen shows

Star War’s: Galaxy’s Edge

The land of Battu feels like an escape from the park, you’ll find Rise of the Resistance and Smuggler’s Run here.

Toy Story Land

It’s Andy’s Back garden, with all Toy Story themed attractions here and Woody’s Lunch Box for cheese toasties and tots.

Sunset Boulevard

The walk to the best thrill rides, and where the Disney Villains are beginning to invade the park

The Walt Disney Studios (previously Animation Courtyard)

A space for younger kids to have fun, but also a space to find quieter attractions and cool down. Also home to Olaf Draws!

Grand Avenue

Star Tours lives here and connects to Galaxy’s Edge

Commissary Lane

Head here to meet Mickey and Minnie in their Hollywood glam

Pixar Plaza

Pixar character meet and greets with The Incredibles, and home of Jack Jack’s Nom Nom cookie.

Do You Need Lightning Lanes at Hollywood Studios?

No, you don’t need Lightning Lanes in Hollywood Studios as a UK visitor as you have more days in the parks with a UK Magic Ticket. However, there are times when wait times reach very high, not worth waiting lengths, such as Slinky Dog hitting nearly 3 hours.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is best used at Hollywood Studios during peak periods. This is usually when Lightning Lanes also cost the most as Disney use dynamic pricing, so it’s a good sign they expect a busy day. UK visitors are best booking Lightning Lane Multi Pass as soon as reservation window open particularly if they’re looking to secure a ride on Slinky Dog. Here is when to consider it:

  • Consider a LLMP during the Easter, the last weekend in May due to Memorial weekend, Thanksgiving, Spring Break, Christmas. This is when queues reach peak wait times.
  • Maybe consider LLMP during shoulder seasons, those days surrounding the peak windows. But if you the 14-Day ticket and prioritise early or late riding it is possible to skip LLMP and get lower waits.
  • Don’t bother with LLMP during most of January, February, early May and early November. Queues are genuinely manageable.

Understanding how to the Lightning Lane system works is key to getting the ride reservations you really want, and a bit of luck, which is why you shouldn’t buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass without a plan. For many people with 14-Day Magic tickets, especially those looking to keep costs down free strategies work well too.

Hollywood Studios Free Morning Ride Strategy

Having a plan for mornings in Hollywood Studios can save you the cost of Lightning Lanes. Planning to head to more popular rides as the park opens works as long as you know where to head. There are key rides people always head to, but where exactly you head depends on whether you are:

Rope drop strategy is very different from Early Entry strategy, but it is possible to skip the need for a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Rise of the Resistance using both strategies.

Eating At Hollywood Studios

There’s a unique open air food court style place for Quick Service at Hollywood Studios offering an interesting range of foods, as well as some unique in park sit-down dining options that you need a park reservation to try.

Best Snacks

No park day would be complete without a snack, or two, and while I don’t find Hollywood Studios the best park for snacks, it doesn’t disappoint on the classics. Although the popcorn at the Fantasmic! theatre is one to avoid here. With seasonal offerings coming in and out, park snacks often change, but here are some staple snack options that always hit the spot:

  • Mickey Brownie Sundae at Hollywood Scoops opens in a new tab is classic and consistent, without the sickly overload and artificial flavour you can find in some cakes here.
  • Totcho bowls at Woody’s Lunch Box opens in a new tab: These are a great savoury snack that’s filling and not sickly like so many of the other options and also comes with Vegan options.
  • Jack Jack’s Num Num Cookie at The Market opens in a new tab: This is big enough to share and has that crispy outside with warm gooey middle cookie style.

Ronto Wraps and Cold Brew Black Caf make it on to a lot of must try snack lists: I couldn’t disagree more. Ronto wraps are overrated hot dogs with coleslaw and Cold Brew Blck Caf is a caffeine overload with 90’s Nesquik cereal on top that is the best part of the whole drink. I am yet to get on-board with any of Battu’s permanent snack fixtures. Let us know what you think on our socials:

Where’s Starbucks in Hollywood Studios?

While I recommend Joffreys when at Disney World, there is a Starbucks in Hollywood Studios called The Trolley Car Café opens in a new tab. It feels smaller than the Starbucks in the other parks, but it’s a good cup of coffee from here.

Best Quick Service Options

Quick service options in Hollywood Studios are going to be controversial as I avoid Galaxy's Edge, instead my top 3 quick service options are:

  • Woody's Lunchbox opens in a new tab: it's busy for a reason and they've extended the seating area in 2026, god for a cheese toasted sandwich and tots, the menu is safe but consistently tasty, but queues can be long so Mobile Ordering works best.
  • ABC Commissary opens in a new tab: It's got plenty of air conditioned seating and is tucked away in a quieter location with a fairly decent salad if you want something light.
  • Fairfax Fare opens in a new tab: Forms part of a collection of quick-service options on Sunset Boulevard, this option stands out because food's served in an edible waffle cone bowl. It's like an ice cream cone and it's got mash and steak in it for example. If you can get beyond an unusual taste combination it's actually a light and tasty quick-service option I recommend.

Best Sit-Down Dining Choices

If you have a Table Service Dining Plan or you enjoy to sit down and eat a meal in the parks Hollywood Studios has a few interesting options:

  • For character dining where the characters get seasonal outfits head to Hollywood and Vine opens in a new tab; it’s buffet style and a middle of the road character and dining experience, but the characters outfits are excellent and you can do breakfast, lunch or dinner.
  • If a more grown-up, but distinctly old feeling Hollywood dining experience is your vibe head to The Hollywood Brown Derby opens in a new tab which serves lunch and dinner.
  • For a unique 1950’s style drive-in dining experience go for Sci-FI Dine-In Theater Restaurant opens in a new tab, the food is typically theme park apart from a few unremarkable items, but it's the experience of dining in cars with the sci-fi fil clips playing that makes this a unique experience.

Hollywood Studios has a lot to offer, and it's easy to spend a full day here if you don't want to make the most of park-hopping with the UK Magic Ticket. It's got a distinctly more grown-up vibe outside of Toy Story Land, and you'll definitely want a couple of days here.
