Is Fantasmic! Worth It: Watch It, Dining Package Or Skip It?

Fantasmic! Is it the best show in Disney World?

Fantasmic! is one night-time show you do not want to miss. Hollywood Studios' flagship after-dark spectacular has been packing out its 7,000-seat amphitheatre since 1998, and unlike the heavily projection-based night-time shows in the rest of Disney World, Fantasmic! is the only night-time theatrical production.

In this guide, you'll find out about seating and exit strategies, when you can book a Fantasmic! Dining Package, and if it's worth it.

What's Fantasmic!?

Fantasmic!'s the goodnight show at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it's the equivalent to Magic Kingdom's Happily Ever After and EPCOT's Luminous: Symphony of Us.

Set in a dedicated open-air venue with a pathway entrance just before the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror on Sunset Boulevard, Fantasmic! is the story of Mickey Mouse's imagination being hijacked by Disney's greatest villains.

The scale of the production and the amphitheatre will catch you off guard the first -time you head to watch the show. I remember just being blown away when I first saw it.

Watching Fantasmic! The Inside Perspective

Fantasmic is a free to watch, sit-down night-time show and there's no experience quite like it in Disney World. It blends the pageantry and even floats of Magic Kingdom parades, with dramatic score and performance elements you'd find in Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.

With no Lightning Lane for shows, Fantasmic! is a night-time show that doesn't take a large amount of planning to enjoy.

Fantasmic! Show Times

Fantasmic! is a night-time show, but when it’s busy it's often on twice in one night. To check timings for your holiday dates you can look in the My Disney Experience App which shows times from about three weeks in advance.

The number of showings of Fantasmic! is a good pointer to how busy Disney expect Hollywood Studios to be. When there’s two showings, expect a busy day with higher ride wait times.

Should You Go to the First or Second Fantasmic! Show?

I prefer the second show, but which you choose depends on whether you have younger children, or other plans. On the days when there are two performances, the first is always the busiest, as people with young children tend to prefer this option. The second showing is usually the quieter one. We have walked in with only 10 minutes until show time two days before Christmas and had a great view, not sat in the over flow seating section at the back.

If you’re thinking of heading to Fantasmic! on your first day, just remember that a 9:30 PM show is equivalent to 2:30 AM in the UK. Saving the late-night shows and strategies for day 3 and beyond will help you acclimatise without feeling that brick wall hit or falling asleep mid-show.

What's A Fantasmic! Dining Package?

A Fantasmic! Dining Package is when you combine eating at a select Hollywood Studios with getting allocated seating for Fantasmic! When you book your package, you pick your showtime, and then you get a voucher for access to the reserved seating area to see Fantasmic! the same day you dine.

Reserved seating is in the centre sections of the amphitheatre and the dining package can be useful to do during the busy days around Easter, Christmas, Spring Break. At these times of year, you need to head to Fantasmic! at least 30 minutes before the show to get a decent seat. The dining package skips that need, and reduces timing down to around 20 minutes.

Cost Of Fantasmic! Dining Package

In 2026, Disney opens in a new tablist the following restaurants as part of the Fantasmic! Dining Package:

Restaurant

Cost per adult and child

Disney Dining Plan Credit Cost

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre

£44.24 ($59.00) adults

£17.25 ($23.00) kids

1 table service dining credit

50’s Prime Time Café

£44.99 ($60.00) adults

£17.25 ($23.00) kids

1 table service dining credit

Hollywood and Vine

£60.74 ($81.00) adults

£38.24 ($51.00) kids

1 table service dining credit

The Hollywood Brown Derby

£62.24 ($83.00) adults

£23.25 ($31.00) kids

2 table service dining credits

You can book to eat at breakfast, lunch or dinner, so you don’t have to eat and then go straight to Fantasmic!. This is handy as it stops you clock watching for show time while you eat and it means you can also have a Hollywood Studios morning, and pop-out for a bit before the show if you want. Being able to work in naps is also helpful as Fantasmic! is a late show for families with younger children.

Can You Book A Fantasmic! Dining Package From The UK?

Yes. Booking a Fantasmic! Dining Package works the same as booking other dining experiences which can all be done from the sofa at home in the UK, and your reservation window opens at the same time too.

You can check when your reservation window will open by putting your Disney World ticket start dates in the tool below:

Is A Fantasmic Dining Package Worth It?

Not always if you're paying out of pocket or trying to maximise dining credit values on a Disney Dining Plan, but sometimes it is. It's one of those dining experiences that sits on the cusp of being worth it or not.

Deciding whether the Fantasmic Dining Package is worth it you means you need to weigh it up in the context of whether you are:

  • paying for it out of pocket as an experience
  • using it as a Table Service option as part of a Disney Dining Plan

Booking With A Disney Dining Plan

A Fantasmic Dining Package is a good use of a one credit table service meal, especially when visiting during busier periods. However, it is not worth spending 2 table service credits for The Hollywood Brown Derby in my opinion, especially if you are looking to get value for money.

Hollywood and Vine is the best option for character dining if you have younger children in your party, or if you're looking for a character experience (meet Mickey and Minnie without queueing, although they're not in the same outfits).

Sci-Fi Die-In Theatre is another great option for a unique experience if you're an adult only group.

Fantasmic! Dining Package: Paying Out Of Pocket

When you buy a Fantasmic! Dining Package you get a main and a desert, (or the buffet at Hollywood and Vine) with a drink for a fixed price with the reserved seating. The cost of reserved seating depends on what you order, so it is something worth considering.

Hollywood And Vine Example

The cost of dining at Hollywood and Vine changes by £11.25 ($15.00) an adult depending on whether you eat breakfast or lunch / dinner. The price of the Fantasmic Dining Package does not change whatever meal service you choose.

This table shows the cost of the dining package vs the cost of paying out of pocket at Hollywood and Vine:

Hollywood and Vine Meal Service

Price out of pocket

Price for Fantasmic Dining Package

Price difference

Breakfast

£36.74 ($49.00)

£60.74 ($81.00)

£24.00 ($32.00)

Lunch or Dinner

£47.99 ($64.00)

£60.74 ($81.00)

£12.75 ($17.00)

Prices correct as of 2nd October 2026 and are shown on a per adult basis and does not include a drink.

When you add on a speciality drink, which you can get with the dining plan, you'll add on around £5.25 ($7.00) for a non-alcoholic option and £15.00 ($20.00) for an alcoholic option. When you go to Hollywood and Vine for Lunch or Dinner, ordering the alcoholic drink is what gives you that break even point, but for anyone going for breakfast or who is not ordering an alcoholic drink, you are effectively paying between £5.25 ($7.00)and £18.75 ($25.00) to reserve seats for Fantasmic!

What you eat affects how much value you get from the Fantasmic! Dining Package if you're looking to pay out of pocket. You can end up paying more to get reserved seating, which I don't find you need for most of the year. To get the best value do the maths to see whether you'll be better off paying for the meal rather than the package.

While the reserved seating area is central and you get a great view, most of the year it isn’t worth paying the surcharge. The seating difference is purely the view and the reservation. It is not worth paying for this out of pocket, unless you are:

  • visiting for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving or a special occasion

Is Fantasmic! Scary?

Fantasmic! isn't scary, but if you have little ones scared of the Disney villains there are a few in this show and the tone is ominous at times. If you have children under five or anyone sensitive to loud noise sitting further back up the amphitheatre is a less intense experience.

It's also worth watching a short clip of the show on YouTube before your trip so you can judge whether your children will enjoy it.

The pyrotechnics are loud and the sound system operates at a significant volume throughout. Loop-style ear defenders are small enough to pack easily and make a meaningful difference if you have sensitive ears.

Do You Need To Plan Your Day Around Fantasmic!?

You don’t need to reverse engineer your plans to watch Fantasmic! It is on every night, and you will get in to see it. With that, it is worth planning to see it at least once during a 14-night stay from the UK. If you are booking the Fantasmic Dining Package, you will plan your day’s itinerary around both your dining reservation and the showing of Fantasmic!.

For everyone else planning to catch the show after a full day, planning to park hop, or planning to just stop in for the evening to catch Fantasmic! you can decide on the day.

Where To Sit To Get A Good View?

Seating is arranged in a semi-circle, with a central section reserved for Dining Package guests. Theatre seating is also staggered, just like a theatre, so everyone gets a good view.

The only exception to this is if you end up in the overflow seating at the back; this is flat and the view is not good. Having sat there before, it is disappointing and it can feel congested. Even when the theatre is full, the regular amphitheatre seating doesn’t feel cramped.

Here is what you need to know about seating:

  • The splash zone covers roughly the first five to ten rows. You'll catch mist from the water screens.
  • The centre, halfway up the theatre is a sweet spot. You’re high enough to see the full boat deck with the characters and the mountain structure clearly and close enough to feel the fire effects from the pyrotechnics.
  • Sit in the far left or right sections near the top of the amphitheatre if you want to get out quickly at the end of the show. This can be useful if you're catching the Skyliner or a bus back to your resort.

Getting out of Fantasmic!: The Queues

Getting out of Fantasmic! is often slow, and patience is essential. The busier it is, the longer it will take to get out. It can be quite the bottleneck, so waiting it out if you can is the best way.

Taking a jumper or zip-up to wear can make all the difference between sitting cold and enjoying the show.
