Will you be on holiday during an EPCOT festival?

EPCOT festivals blend culture, food, and entertainment four times a year, and festivals span across around 10 months of the calendar year. Interactive and immersive, festivals bring EPCOT to life. For UK visitors, EPCOT festivals make the park and visiting without a festival often leaves you feeling as if something is missing, even if you’re a first time visitor.

EPCOT Festival Calendar 2026 / 2027 Dates

EPCOT has 4 festivals that run throughout the year. The dates for upcoming festivals in 2026 and 2027 are:

Festival

Dates

Festival theme

International Festival of the Arts

16th January - 1st March 2027

Exploring art through food, art, costume, and performance

International Flower and Garden Festival

10th March - 31st May 2027

Disney themed topiaries: flowers and spring

International Food and Wine Festival

27th August - 21st November 2026

Celebrating food and wine around the world

International Festival of the Holidays

27th November to 30th December 2026

Festive traditions from around the world

Experiencing EPCOT without a festival is a very different experience, and for me it seems strange to walk around without the seasonal festival decor. The 2026 into 2027 dates when EPCOT doesn't have a festival are:

  • 1st - 15th January 2026
  • 24th February - 3rd March 2026
  • 2nd June - 26th August 2026
  • 21st - 27th November 2026
  • 1st - 15th January 2027
  • 1st - 10th March 2027

Now you know when the festivals are, and aren’t, there’s the question of what an EPCOT festival is, what you should expect, and why you might want to consider booking your holiday when a festival is on.

EPCOT Festival 101

When I first heard of an EPCOT festival, I had no clue what it was; so here are the crucial pieces of information every UK visitor needs to know:

UK equivalent experiences to EPCOT festivals are difficult to give because of the unique nature of each festival; there isn’t anything that gives you the exact experience. Think of it as a fun day combined with a food and drink festival but lasting for months; there’s also no free food or drink samples.

What To Expect From An EPCOT Festival?

Although there are four different EPCOT festivals with different theming and experiences, there is a standard festival experience, so this is what you can expect at every EPCOT festival:

  • Festival Passports to get a free item of food when you eat qualifying snacks
  • A costs extra scavenger hunt
  • A free musical concert series
  • A pay to dine and then get reserved seating for concerts dining series
  • Food and drinks booths with Festival menus
  • Festival themed merchandise
  • Festival decor and related activities

This means that for UK visitors who don’t plan around EPCOT festivals and may have FOMO about missing out, you can rest assured that the core experience is the same, just themed differently. (Yes, this is a very bare bones way to look at EPCOT festivals).

What’s A Festival Passport?

A Festival Passport is a small free booklet you’ll find in the carts with the maps at EPCOT entrances. It is something I always pick up on the first day in EPCOT when there is a festival on. It contains little menus and festival information, but more importantly it is what you need to collect stamps to get a free prize!

At every festival you'll find different festival foods available to buy. There is also a special festival menu themed to each event offering a range of snacks to choose from where you can buy 5 and get a free 6th festival themed prize. (You don’t get to choose it; it’s a bit like a prize).

To take advantage of this menu, you really need to collect the passport on day one, as snacks can be filling. You can use it over multiple days, which is perfect when you’re using a UK Magic Ticket and planning multiple EPCOT days.

Scavenger hunts are a great way for families with children to enjoy Festivals and they pair very well with the snack trail in the Festival Passport or an eating / drinking around the world experience. Scavenger hunts currently cost £8.99 ($11.99) plus sales tax.

There is a small prize at the end, that changes with the festival but it’s not a prize that ever seems to justify the cost in my opinion. It’s more about having an experience and about giving children and adults something fun to do. It’s not something we recommend, as realistically Disney is expensive enough and the cost outweighs the experience, but it is personal choice. For a free alternative, consider KIDCOT stops instead, plus they are available to do all year. There’s just no prize, but it is a much more interactive experience, and more in the spirit of EPCOT in my opinion.

EPCOT Concert Series

Every festival has a free concert series, and at each festival there is a different music genre to experience.

Festival

Concert

Type of music

Festival of the Arts

Disney on Broadway

Broadway style show tunes

Flower and Garden Festival

Garden Rocks

Mainly pop and rock from 60s to 90s hits

International Food and Wine Festival

Eat to the Beat

80’s, 90s, 00s music across a variety of genres

Festival of the Holidays

Candlelight Processional

Traditional and classical Christmas music with narrations from famous actors

All concerts are a live music experience held at the America Gardens Theatre. However, the free seating is limited, so getting a seat can often involve queuing for several hours. You can book a Festival Dining Package to guarantee your entry, but you will still need to turn up early to grab the best seats.

Snacking at EPCOT Festivals: Food and Drinks Booths

Food and drinks booths are the staple of any EPCOT festival, and they change locations and menus with each festival. The changing snack and drinks menus helps to create that shifting experience that makes EPCOT feel different during different Festivals. It also means that for a stress- and FOMO- free Festival experience with snacks and drinks it's best to:

  • Check out the food and drink line-up, and create a bucket-list before visiting,
  • Have a budget because snacks can get expensive. Buying a gift card can help prevent out of pocket snack costs spiralling
  • Know what you want to try.

Can You Experience An EPCOT Festival In A Day?

Yes you can experience an EPCOT Festival in a day, because EPCOT’s identity becomes suffused with the festival that’s on. Simply walking from ride to ride will give you a subtle Festival vibe. If you wanted to experience everything, that would be very difficult if not impossible, and trying every snack or drink is going to be unlikely, and costly.

Exclusive events are part of each festival, and making time to experience just one event will add a festival vibe to your day. Enjoying parts of the festival, like snacks, as part of any day in the park is a good strategy. Leaving having a half day to just walk around and take in the free festival events is a good way to really take advantage of visiting EPCOT during a festival.

Is It Worth Visiting EPCOT During A Festival?

It's definitely worth visiting EPCOT during a festival, because not only does it add extra free Disney magic, EPCOT feels lighter and a little empty without a festival. Communicore Hall for instance is built for festival experiences; seeing it empty when festivals are not on is just a bit sad.

The question of whether UK visitors should plan their holiday around an EPCOT festival will depend on what you want from a Disney holiday. Unfortunately during the long 6 week UK summer holidays there is not an EPCOT festival on until the last few days of August which means lots of UK families will miss out. Planning a trip around the festival calendar of one Disney park is not the best option for many UK visitors, but for some it will work.

Best days of the week to visit during EPCOT Festivals

EPCOT festivals draw big crowds, especially on opening days of the festivals so if you are looking to avoid the crowds it is best to avoid these dates. EPCOT festivals are generally quieter on week days, like most parks are, but during festival weekends we have always found the parks busier than on non-festival weekends. If there isn’t a festival on, EPCOT is often a good shout when visiting Disney Parks on a weekend for a slightly quieter, but busy by UK standards, park experience.

Comparing EPCOT’s 4 Festivals

EPCOT’s 4 festivals are unique and beautiful in their own right, but if you are thinking of booking your holiday from the UK around a specific EPCOT festival experience, here is the breakdown the festivals:

Which EPCOT Festival Is The best?

Every EPCOT festival has its perks and it really depends on what you are looking to get out of an EPCOT festival. Overall, my least favourite is Food and Wine, but I couldn’t pick an overall favourite from the remaining three.

Planning Lunch And Dinner At An EPCOT Festival

Lunch and dinner are two great ways to explore an EPCOT festival because the Festival Booths offer small plates. Deciding to have the equivalent of a picky tea or lunch with a walk around World Showcase is a great way to explore EPCOT Festival food as part of an itinerary. Giving yourself 3 hours to wander from booth to booth trying food is fun and you don’t get over full or bored of what you’re eating.

Saving up snack credits to do this if you have the Disney Dining plan is a good way to do something different and use snack credits on high value items to feel like you're getting the most from your plan. Alternatively, popping a set amount for a festival snack crawl for lunch or dinner onto a Disney gift card at World Traveller or Gateway Gifts as you enter is a good way of preventing an expensive dining experience.

If you love food, this is a relaxed way to explore. And if you're a couple on holiday it's an interesting way to have a date night dinner in EPCOT.

When it’s hot during the start of the Food and Wine Festival or towards the end of Flower and Garden, I find this is better to do in the evening.

Tips For Visiting During EPCOT Festivals

Visiting EPCOT during a festival is our favourite time to visit EPCOT, any festival will do, but there are a few things I always put in my park bag to make the most of my festival experience:

  • Small plastic container for half-eaten snacks, to eat the rest later. (Bring them from home, a box about the size of the palm of your hand works. Avoid zip-lock bags as the contents gets squashed in park bags.
  • Hand sanitiser and wipes

When it comes to experiencing every festival, here are three top tips:

  • Look out for special festival themed Photo Pass pictures, they are included with the price of UK Magic Tickets and make a great free seasonal souvenirs of your day.
  • A Disney Gift card bought specifically for trying festival food from Gateway Gifts as you enter the park by Spaceship Earth is a great way to budget snack costs.
  • Make a list of bucket list snacks to try so you don’t get overwhelmed by choice; just be sure to put the location next to the snack so you can find it!

EPCOT festivals are an absolute blast, whether you’re there for the food, the entertainment, or just to soak in the atmosphere.
