Walt Disney World Ticket Guide: UK Options Compared

What ticket option available in the UK best suits your holiday plans?

Choosing Walt Disney World park tickets from the UK isn’t really that complicated once you know how much time you want to spend in the parks. UK visitors have 3 main options when it comes to buying Disney World tickets in the UK and this guide compares exactly what they are to help you decide which you need for your Orlando holiday.

Disney World Ticket Options In The UK

The 3 types of Walt Disney World ticket UK visitors can buy here in the UK are:

  1. UK Magic Tickets
  2. Combination Tickets (which include the UK Magic Ticket with other tickets in one purchase)
  3. Separate Special Seasonal Disney World Event Tickets

The main ticket type UK visitors need to know about, and the one that you will most likely buy and use is the UK Exclusive Magic Ticket, which is the type of Disney ticket used in combo ticket offers from third parties here in the UK. Separate tickets for special events can be bought as well as Magic Tickets or Combo Tickets and are needed if you want to go to these events, as entry isn’t included with combination or Magic Tickets.

However, this does not mean that you can’t buy your ticket when you land in the US from the US Disney World website or on the gate. While this is an option, it’s not one I recommend, even if you’re looking for only a couple of days entry. While you can get offers and shorter ticket durations, you have a lump sum to pay when you buy during your holiday, and you’ll be paying in dollars (USD), with an exchange rate, possible card fees, and you’ll pay Florida Sales Tax on top. I feel it’s easier for most UK visitors to have tickets sorted.

Which Disney World Ticket Type Should You Buy For Your Holiday?

The best ticket type is a Magic Ticket or Combo Ticket with Magic Ticket if you’re looking for daily entry, but that isn’t always right for a holiday where you just want a little bit of Disney magic. Here is a comparison of the admission and buying differences between the three types of Walt Disney World tickets you can buy in the UK:

Buying the best Disney World ticket for your trip comes down to knowing what you want from your holiday:

  • Choose a 7- or 14-Day UK Magic ticket: for general admission to all 4 Disney theme parks and water parks when you’re only planning on visiting Disney World on multiple days during your holiday.
  • Pick a combination ticket: for general admission to all 4 Disney theme parks and water parks, plus admission to other select attractions. It’s ideal if you want to go to Universal Orlando or Sea World as part of your holiday. Not all attractions are included in Combo tickets so you’ll need to check what’s included before booking.
  • Pick a Special Event Ticket: you’ll get entry to one specific park on one day for a set number of hours. This ticket does not replace the need for a general admission ticket if you plan on having a Disney World holiday, and is a nice extra to do, not a theme park ticket for the duration of a holiday. It’s a great option for visiting a Disney park for half a day if you’re spending your holiday around Orlando doing other things and just want to add in a little bit of Disney.

Disney World Magic Tickets: Best For Daily Entry

Disney World Magic Tickets are the UK and Ireland exclusive ticket option best for everyday entry into the park for either a week or a fortnight. They are designed to compliment the average length of a UK holiday to Orlando that is centred around visiting Walt Disney World from the UK. Buying Tickets on the Gate vs in the UK

Buying your Disney World tickets in the UK before you travel is usually the simplest option, especially if you want to plan your park days in advance and know exactly what you're paying. Tickets bought at the gate can offer more flexibility for last-minute plans, but prices tend to be higher and availability can be more limited during busy periods. Buying tickets in the UK ahead of your holiday also makes it easier to compare ticket types, budget for the trip and have everything sorted before you arrive in Florida. Disney and Universal Combo Tickets

Disney and Universal combo tickets are a handy option if you're planning to visit both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando during the same Florida holiday. Rather than buying different tickets for each resort separately, these packages place them in one booking, with one reference number, often with plenty of flexibility across your stay. They're particularly popular with UK visitors who want to experience the Disney parks as well as Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure without juggling multiple ticket purchases.

You can sometimes add in other attractions too when buying combo tickets, so do have a look around to see what suits your holiday plan.

Is It Worth Buying An Annual Pass For A Disney World Holiday?

No, it’s not worth buying a Disney World annual pass for one two-week holiday, but if you’re visiting more than two times a year for more than two weeks at a time, an Annual Pass could be worth it. UK visitors are limited to Disney World’s most expensive Annual Pass, unless you’re a DVC member, and this is the main reason that an annual pass isn’t worth it for a two-week holiday. However, if you’re interested in crunching the numbers and want to find out more head to our guide about Buying A Walt Disney World Annual Pass As A UK Resident

Tickets for Separate Disney World Seasonal Events

Disney World holds several separate special ticketed events throughout the year, but these tickets don’t replace daily entry tickets. UK visitors can buy tickets in the UK for some of these evening events, but not all. Tickets for seasonal events are released around three months before the first night of the event.
