Now let’s look at what this comparison means for your booking experience in a bit more detail.
Are Attraction Tickets and FloridaTix both legitimate?
Yes, both Attraction Tickets opens in a new tab and FloridaTix are official Disney World ticket partners. They aren’t the same company, but both are UK based. They both are authorised sellers of:
Disney UK Exclusive Magic Tickets for 7 & 14 days
Special Event Disney World tickets
Orlando combo tickets, which bundle Disney World tickets with other attractions like Universal or SeaWorld, Bush Gardens and Aquatica.
The first key difference between the two is the attractions included in combination tickets. They do not offer the same bundles; what’s on offer differs, for example:
Attractions Tickets offers a Disney World and Legoland Combo ticket opens in a new tabthat FloridaTix does not.
FloridaTix offers a Disney World, Sea World Mini and Kennedy Space Centre opens in a new tabBundle that Attraction Tickets does not offer.
How do the deposits and payment deadlines compare?
Deposits and payment deadlines only apply to Magic Tickets or Disney World combo tickets with both companies. For separate special and seasonal ticketed events, they both expect upfront payment for tickets.
FloridaTix asks for a deposit of £20, £30 less than Attraction Tickets who ask for a £50 deposit to pay in instalments. The instalment plans vary significantly. You can pay instalments of any amount with Attraction Tickets, which means setting up a lower amount is possible, while FloridaTix will not accept instalments of less than £50 a time. You’ll also need to pay FloridaTix balances around 30 days sooner than Attraction Tickets balances.
Here’s what an example of a £1,000 payment schedule could look like for a couple buying 14-Day Magic Tickets with 12 months to go before departure:
Payments | Attraction Tickets | FloridaTix |
|---|---|---|
Deposit | £100 | £40 |
Instalments | 24 payments of £36 over 323 days | 18 payments of £50 over 275 days |
Final Balance | 1 payment of £36 6 weeks before. | 1 payment of £55, 90 days before |
With FloridaTix you’ll pay less upfront, but higher instalments over a shorter period before paying the balance. Attractions Tickets you’ll pay more upfront, with the option to pay smaller instalments over a longer period before paying the balance. The balance for tickets is paid off sooner with FloridaTix, than with Attraction Tickets.
What happens if you need to change your dates?
Attraction Tickets will let you change your ticket start date for Magic Tickets and combo Disney World tickets twice before departure for free, even if the tickets are linked in the My Disney Experience App. (Although this does require a rebook and you’ll get new Disney references numbers, they do not charge you to make the change if you have paid in full). You’ll pay £10 per person to make more than 2 changes.
FloridaTix works differently: it does not amend bookings at all. A date change would be a cancellation, and cancellation costs could apply if you don’t buy their “Peace of Mind” protection on top when booking.
What does the cancellation cover actually get you?
Both sell optional cancellation cover that you buy when you book your Magic Tickets or Combo Tickets, again this cover does not apply to special and seasonal event tickets. FloridaTix's Peace of Mind opens in a new tab is a flat £50 per booking, covering everyone on it; Attraction Tickets Flex Cover Protection opens in a new tab charge from £5 per person, per ticket for their cover. The more people and the more tickets you’re buying the more expensive it gets with Attraction Tickets; whereas a single purchase of tickets is covered by the FloridaTix protection.
Standard cancellation charges, if you buy without cover
When you cancel tickets without any cover with FloridaTix there’s a rolling cancellation charge, Attraction Tickets have a different policy for different ticket types.
Attraction Tickets keep 20% of the cost of the Magic Ticket or Combo Ticket per person if you cancel at anytime before your trip
FloridaTix will only keep the £20 deposit per person for cancellation up to 33 days before ticket start dates; 8 to 32 days before ticket start date they keep 20% of the ticket cost per person. If it’s 7 days or less you don’t get a refund.
With a standard ticket, without cancellation protection, a late cancellation with FloridaTix can cost you the whole ticket, whereas Attraction Tickets caps your exposure at 20%. If there's any chance you'll pull out, choose Attraction Tickets.
What about price match?
Both only offer a price match for Magic Tickets and Combo Tickets. FloridaTix will only honour a price match at time of booking, whereas Attraction Tickets give you 7 days from the time you get your booking confirmation to ask for a price match. You’ll need to find like-for-like tickets, from UK vendors to get it, and Attraction Tickets insist on ABTA or ATOT membership too, which means they don’t price match FloridaTix.
How They Differ On Tickets For Disney’s Separate-Ticketed Events?
Disney’s Special Ticket Event tickets can all be bought at both Attraction Tickets and FloridaTix for:
After Hours events
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Jollywood Nights
Both sellers market these tickets as non-refundable, not included in the price promise, with no instalment plan available, but both offer discounts on the price which has to be paid in full at the time of booking.
For these events, you get a digital ticket like you do with Magic Tickets and Combo Tickets. It’s very much a case of the price you see is the price you pay and tickets are on a when they’re sold out, they’re gone basis.
Should you just book tickets direct with Disney instead?
It depends on the ticket type.
You can’t book a Combo ticket direct with Disney, so if you want this ticket option a third party seller is your only option
For separate ticketed special and seasonal events booking direct with Disney involves paying in dollars (USD) on a US booking system, and you’ll pay Florida Sales Tax.
For Magic Tickets, Disney have some great offers and it does come down to whether you want to book tickets as part of a package holiday or separately.
Attraction Tickets vs FloridaTix: who’s best to buy your tickets from?
To decide which to use you need to work from what ticket you want, rather than from what seller to buy with.
For a 7 or 14-Day Magic Ticket
There are more places you can buy Magic Tickets, including direct with Disney, so this decision comes down to:
whether you want or need to book Magic Tickets as part of a package to get a better holiday deal: if you do you’ll probably be booking direct with Disney
