Pop Century's refurbishment, completed in March 2026, did not reinvent the rooms, but it did make them look warmer, fresher, and less clinical through updated soft furnishings and finishes. Changes in the colours and textures of the room impact how it feels rather than changing the layout or how you use the room.
To our eyes the first thing we noticed was the rug. Then the thought of how is that going to stay clean! But overall the new rooms have a brighter feel and more importantly in 2026, they are the most recently refurbished rooms across a whole resort which means they’ll feel newer and show less wear and tear. When booking your trip this is important to keep in mind, as a clean and freshly reupholstered room always feels better in our opinion.
Why the soft furnishings update makes Pop Century a better choice for UK visitors in 2026?
If you have ever stayed at Pop Century before, the refresh will change your perspective when you walk into the room. Rooms feel brighter and warmer, and the rug really does stand out as this is not something you currently find in other Disney Value Resorts. If you’re a first time visitor, rooms will feel fresh and welcoming. Having a newly updated room gives your holiday to Disney World from the UK a more luxury feel without paying the higher price tag.
A room that is just updated has feels cleaner and newer, which is an important consideration if you are booking a stay of two-weeks or more in a room. There is nothing worse than walking into a room that feels underwhelming, no matter how comfy the bed is.
But with the same soft furnishing style refurbishment beginning in All Star Movies in 2026, why not stay there, pay less and request a newly refurbished room? The main reason is that refurbishment work is ongoing and a room request is no guarantee of getting a newly refurbished room.
Refurbishments work at All Star Resorts
The soft furnishings refurbishment seems to be a programme of works that is going to move from resort to resort across the Value Tier. An announcement was made on 11th March stating that All Star Movies would be the next Value Resort to undergo a period of room refurbishment, lasting until January 2027. We suspect that this refurbishment will continue across the All Star resorts into 2028, moving from Movies to Music to Sports following the same refurbishment pattern as the 2017-2020 refurbs.
While the refurbishment works are not necessarily a reason to change a booking when you’ve booked in advance, when booking now for a 2026 holiday I would choose to avoid anywhere with refurbishment works. For a more peaceful stay, avoiding All Star Movies would be better for most UK visitors who will likely see some signs of work on a two week trip, even if there is no disturbance.
Pop Century rooms will feel fresh, and the resort will be free from any building and refurbishment works, making it an excellent option in our opinion. But why not choose a different All Star or Art of Animation for your 2026 stay?
Disney Skyliner and higher costs

Overall, the Skyliner Value resorts do cost more than the All Star Resorts, but Skyliner hotels offer a unique convenience that many UK visitors enjoy. For the rest of 2026, the Skyliner is not scheduled to have any refurbishment works. Pop Century is also the least expensive option when it comes to Skyliner hotels in Value Resorts too, so offers the best value for money when you consider the newly refurbished rooms too.
Pop Century is not necessarily going to be the best Value Resort in terms of cost, and if you are looking to keep costs as low as possible while still staying on-site in 2026, Pop Century won’t be the best option. All Star Music or All Star Sports will most likely offer better financial value. But rooms may not feel as fresh or comfortable and over two-weeks, or longer, that can make a difference to your overall resort experience.

Head to All Star Music or Sports to avoid this in-room theming at Value Resorts currently, or consider upgrading to a Moderate resort to avoid the over-sized theming altogether. If overt Disney theming is not what you want, avoid Pop Century and all of the Disney Value Resorts.
