Early Entry at Magic Kingdom needs an early alarm, especially given the time it takes to get into the park. For UK visitors staying in Disney hotels who have the resort guest benefit of early theme park entry having an early entry strategy that works with jet lag and the UK Exclusive Magic Ticket is key to getting the most from your free 30 minutes.

Navigating Magic Kingdom For Early Entry

Magic Kingdom only has two areas of the park open for Early Entry, which often makes it feel more crowded than the other three parks when you do Early Entry. Plus, you will notice that anyone who arrives early is let in through the turnstiles and into the Main Street USA area. You need to head towards Cinderella Castle and to the left for Early Entry where Cast Members will scan your tickets again before letting you past into the open two areas.

Magic Kingdom Early Entry Ride List 2026

Not every ride is open during Early Entry, but here is the list of the current 18 rides that are open for Early Entry in 2026 in Magic Kingdom:

Magic Kingdom has the most number of Early Entry rides open, but the fewest park areas. You won’t get through all of these rides during one morning of Early Entry, it’s impossible, so you need to choose the rides you want to experience. The best way to do that is with a strategy.

Best Strategies for Early Entry at Magic Kingdom

The best strategies for Magic Kingdom are about prioritising riding the most popular rides, included in the Early Entry ride list, in the order that matters most for your trip. Having an Early Entry strategy is all about using your free 30 minutes effectively to get lower wait times, and as a UK visitor you can aim to use all of these strategies with your Magic Ticket entry.

As only two Magic Kingdom lands are open, and there are only a handful of Early Entry rides that have consistently high wait times, there are three strategies from my experience:

  1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train strategy to skip the need to buy a Lightning Lane Single Pass
  2. Tomorrowland Strategy: Great for early morning thrills and a competition to see who buys breakfast snacks
  3. Fantasyland Strategy: Perfect for families

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Strategy: Skip Lightning Lane Single Pass

Using Early entry to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Magic Kingdom is one of the most popular uses of Early Entry, you’ll be heading to the ride with a lot of other people. This ride keeps a high queue time throughout the day, unless it goes down. Even when the queue builds in the 30 minutes of Early Entry, it moves faster because there are no Lightning Lanes operational at this time of day.

In my experience you can queue and experience this ride during Early Entry, and still get to the queue line for another ride in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland before Magic Kingdom opens. The ride you choose after Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, will determine how many rides you get on during Early Entry. To achieve this you need to be in the park before Early Entry begins and get in that queue line early.

Tomorrowland Strategy

If you head to Tomorrowland first during Early Entry there is one ride worth heading to, and a ride worth hanging around for at the end of Early Entry.

When you head to Tomorrowland as a UK visitor stay in the area for the full 30 minutes and do the two most popular rides: Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. Aim to be able to get on TRON as soon as the rest of the park opens to get a lower wait time, taking advantage of your already closer proximity to the queue line having been in Tomorrowland for Early Entry.

Fantasyland Strategy: Perfect for Families

There are two rides I would recommend choosing from to ride in Fantasyland during Early Entry. The benefits are the same, and by getting to the park before Early Entry and heading to one as soon it begins, there are days when you’ll be able to get in the queue for the other before Magic Kingdom and Fantasyland opens to everyone else.

Staying At A Monorail Hotel: Use Early Entry Differently

If you are a UK visitor staying at one of the Disney hotels on the monorail loop, your Early Entry access is easier than everyone else’s, as Magic Kingdom is only a few stops of the Monorail away. However, as you will be staying in a Deluxe Resort you’ll have access to Extended Evening Hours. While this isn’t on every night and the parks vary, if it is on during your stay you’ll have access to more rides with even fewer people in the parks, so this does affect Early Entry strategy.

When you stay in a hotel close to the park, Early Entry can be more about taking in the early morning vibes, rather than rushing to rides. Aiming for the less popular quieter rides open during Early Entry, if you have an Extended Hours Evening in Magic Kingdom, is often the best use of your time.

When is the best time during a holiday to do Early Entry with a UK Magic Ticket?

Your first full day of a Disney World holiday from the UK is the best day to do Early Entry in Magic Kingdom. Here are the three main reason to use Early Entry that first day:

  1. Jet lag on your first day in Florida is real so use it to your advantage. Your body is adjusting to the 5 hour difference in time zones, so when it’s 9am at home, it’s 4am in Florida. Waking early on your first full day raring to go happens often without an alarm, so make the most of it and head to Magic Kingdom for Early Entry.
  2. Nothing beats the magic of seeing Cinderella Castle that first day. It’s about having that pinch me I’m actually here and not dreaming start to your trip.
  3. It’s easier to do Magic Kingdom first, your body is awake and you’re fresh; later in the holiday the alarm hits hard, especially during week two. Heading into Magic Kingdom takes longer, especially if you’re in a Value Resort.

Do You Still Need Lightning Lanes If You’ve Got Early Entry in Magic Kingdom?

Yes and no. You’ll never need a Lightning Lane in Magic Kingdom, but you might want to use them and if you do, Early Entry isn’t really going to make a difference to that. Early Entry helps reduce the need for Lightning Lanes by helping you get lower wait times on some headliner attractions in the Magic Kingdom included in Early Entry opening. But not all.

If you’re making the most of Early Entry, you’ll spend less time in queues, and combined with park hopping and longer visit with a 14-Day Magic Ticket, a Lightning Lane may is an unnecessary spend for some. Realistically, using Early Entry, Rope Drop and over 14 days, you are going to get to ride everything at least once, especially if you have a plan to use your time effectively.

In Magic Kingdom using Early Entry to ride strategically:

  • reduces your need for Lightning Lane Single Pass if you want to ride once
  • reduces the need for Lightning Lane Multi Pass if you combine Early Entry strategy with Rope Drop strategy (this mans a loose plan and some knowledge of what’s open and where rides are located in Magic Kingdom)

What Time Should You Head To Magic Kingdom For Early Entry?

Aim to get to Magic Kingdom around 20 minutes before Early Entry begins. The time for Early Entry varies at Magic Kingdom, depending on what time the park opens, so check opening times before leaving.

Also keep in mind that how you get to Magic Kingdom impacts how long it takes overall:

Aim to get to Magic Kingdom and be there 20 minutes earlier than the start time of Early Entry.

Why Early Closing At Magic Kingdom Is Good For Early Entry Strategy and UK Visitors

On select dates throughout the year Magic Kingdom closes early. This is usually due to special events, and includes nights when seasonal parties such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are on. During the day before these parties, Magic Kingdom has a reputation for being quieter because US and other visitors who do not have park hopper built-in to their ticket don’t want to head to Magic Kingdom when it closes around 6pm. We’ve tried it, and it’s held true in our experience.

On these days, Early Entry is also quieter in our experience, so this is a great day to head into Magic Kingdom early and then use the Magic Ticket’s park hopping benefit to head elsewhere later on.

Is Early Entry In Magic Kingdom Worth It In 2026?

Yes, it is definitely worth using Early Entry in Magic Kingdom in 2026 if you have that resort guest benefit. While Early Entry in Magic Kingdom is the most restricted in terms of access to areas of the park, you actually have the widest range of ride options. Early Entry saves money if you plan on using Lightning Lanes and will help you to ride popular rides with lower wait times at least once during your trip.

Overall, Magic Kingdom is however my least favourite option to do Early Entry.
