Disney delivered 24 major entertainment announcements and updates during its D23 2026 Entertainment Showcase. D23 2026 Announcements: What Disney’s Confirmed

Disney’s Entertainment Showcase, which was not streamed live for UK Disney+ subscribers, unlike the D23 Horizons Disney Parks announcements, has revealed a list of exciting new films, Disney+ shows, and even West End Musicals. Disney is clearly filling in the gaps for the big holiday period releases for the end of 2026, 2027, and as far ahead as 2028.

UK West End Announcement

The UK theatre announcement is not a shocking one. The Greatest Showman The Musical had a highly recommended, albeit short 8-week run in Bristol. The news it is returning is very welcome for UK Disney fans, as the The Greatest Showman The Musical will open at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in Spring 2027.

Film Announcements

Most of the entertainment announcements were unsurprisingly for cinema releases, which cover 2027, 2028 and even a promised Coco instalment for as far ahead as 2029. Here are the film releases:

Disney+ Announcements

For Disney+ fans Camp Rock 3, which is available to stream now was also discussed and LION. This National Geographic docuseries follows a lion pride in Kenya, and is released this week on 20th August on Disney+ and Hulu.

The biggest announcements are around the cinema releases and film production, which shows Disney and Pixar are continuing to build on their already successful franchises, many of which have been translated into Disney Parks and Hotel experiences. With very little new ideas coming to life, Disney is clearly focusing their entertainment offerings on what is working rather than building new stories.
