How Can UK Visitors Get From Orlando Airport (MCO) To Disney Resort?

Car approaching the Walt Disney World entrance arch over a road.
No matter how you get there; those gates are magic!

Getting to and from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Disney World is a decision best made in advance, but in 2026 you’ve got quite a few options. Gone are the days of Disney providing a free transfer via the Disney Magical Express, that stopped officially on 1st January 2022. It’s now a decision, and cost you need to budget into your total Walt Disney World holiday cost. The best option to take from Terminal C will come down to party size, the amount of luggage you have, and how you plan on spending your holiday.

This guide compares the 5 transfer options for 2026 that UK visitors have, so you can book and plan for the best one before you fly.

How Far Is Disney World from Orlando Airport?

Walt Disney World is around 25 miles south-west of Orlando International Airport, and it takes about 30-40 minutes to drive there from MCO in normal traffic. Allow an hour for the return drive home or if you are booking onward activities after you land, as traffic is often busier than expected.

Car Hire: Convenience Beyond Airport Transfers

A hire car is a great way to get from MCO to Disney World and back, but if this is the only time you will drive your hire car during a holiday it is not worth hiring a car for a fortnight just to do the transfers. However, if you plan on using a hire car to explore beyond Disney World, for trips to Walmart and days out, then a hire car is the most convenient transfer option. It’s the one I would also recommend, as Disney World hotels offer free parking too.

But it’s not just the cost of the hire car you need to take into account when looking into using them to transfer. The easiest way to get from MCO to Disney Resorts usually involves hitting a toll road, so picking up a Visitor Toll Pass on the way to grab the car is essential for keeping costs as low as possible. Visitor Toll Pass is free, and takes minutes to set-up and pick-up; you can read more about in using Visitor Toll Pass: Savings For UK Visitors Flying To MCO

Tolls won’t add much to your overall cost when using Visitor Toll Pass. Here is approximately what tolls cost when you drive from Orlando Airport in 2026 on the following routes:

Travelling to

Toll Roads

Cost one way

MCO to International Drive

FL-528W (Martin Andersen Beachline)

£1.72 ($2.30) - £2.25 ($3.00)

MCO to Walt Disney World

Taking the FL-417S (The GreeneWay) which is cashless or FL-528W (Martin AndersenBeachline) to i-4

£2.25 ($3.00) - £3.75 ($5.00)

MCO to Universal or SeaWorld

FL-528W (Martin Andersen Beachline)

£1.87 ($2.50) - £2.62 ($3.50)

These routes are often the easiest to drive in my experience, offering fairly straight and easy to navigate roads which is important when you’re driving after an 8-9 hour transatlantic flight and in a foreign country, possibly for the first time. Getting to grips with toll roads isn’t difficult, and you can avoid them if you want, easily get to grips with using and paying tolls in Florida Tolls Guide: Paying and Using Tolls In A Hire Car.

Car hire is my personal favourite options as it gives you the most flexibility, but it is a significant cost to budget for on top of the cost of a Disney World holiday.

Private Transfers: Good For Larger Groups

Private transfer options are like hiring a taxi company here in the UK to come and collect you at the airport. There’s no one else transferring with you and you get to drive straight to your hotel, plus they often track flights and will be there waiting for you when you land. This takes the stress out of sorting transfers, and many companies will bring a car seat for your transfer if you have a child. You’ll pay more than Mears, but it is a service and a great way to start a holiday especially if there is a group of you with quite a bit of luggage.

EPIC Private Hire opens in a new tab is the company I would recommend if you are considering a private transfer from MCO, and they cover MLB too which is great for UK visitors flying in with TUI.

What Is the Cheapest Way to Get from Orlando Airport to Disney World?

The cheapest way is by bus, and there are two options, with Mears Connect offering the best option for UK tourists:

  • Local Lynx Bus - cheapest way to get to Disney Springs from MCO
  • Mears Connect - cheapest and best way to get to all Disney World hotels directly from MCO

For 99% of UK visitors, the Local Lynx Bus isn’t a realistic option after a 9 hour transatlantic flight, and the better option is Mears Connect, especially for families with children and lots of luggage.

Lynx Bus Option

To use the Lynx Bus, take the Lynx bus, route 311 opens in a new tab, which takes around an hour from point to point with 6 stops, including near Universal. It runs between 5am and 11pm and does not need pre-booking. You have to pay in cash, but it is very cheap to use. The route involves a bus change before getting to your Disney Hotel at Disney Springs and this is where challenges increase, as now you’re hauling your cases even further onto more types of transport.

However, you will likely find challenges with getting luggage to hotels on Disney’s free transport as not all bus drivers will accept you on if you have cases, which means you could need an UBER XL from the Disney Springs drop-off point. This will take time and cost more, making this option more costly than a Mears Connect, which is a much easier and more direct bus route to take.

Mears Connect

Mears Connect opens in a new tabis the cheapest option to get from MCO if you use the standard shared coach option direct to your Disney World hotel. A UK family of four can expect to pay:

Family size

Price One-Way

Price Return

2 adults

£25.92 ($34.56)

£51.83 ($69.12)

2 adults; 1 child

£36.44 ($48.60)

£72.89 ($97.20)

2 adults; 2 children

£46.97 ($62.64)

£93.95 ($125.28)

3 adults

£38.87 ($51.84)

£77.75 ($103.68)

£49.40 ($65.88)

£98.81 ($131.76)

£103.66 ($138.24)

Mears Transportation operates the official successor to Disney's Magical Express, running 24/7 between MCO and every Disney resort. You head to the area in Terminal C, jump on the bus, luggage is put underneath, and you are driven to your resort. Unless you get lucky, there will be a few stops before getting dropped off as the coaches stop at more than one Disney hotel, which adds time.

Mears Connect

Mears Coach to transfer to Disney Resorts

The plus of this option for families is that you don’t need a car seat. If your holiday is wholly at Disney World, or you’re only planning a few trips out, this option is reasonable, fairly time efficient, moving luggage is easy, and the coaches are comfy. (You’ll find some are actually the old Magic Express buses).

Mears also offers an Express service, which is a round-trip-only direct option for up to four people and costs £187.47 ($250.00), with a charge of £41.24 ($55.00) more for every additional person. This may not offer the same value as a private transfer, and would need pricing with individual companies.

Are Uber and Lyft Reliable Transfer Options at Orlando Airport?

Yes, Uber and Lyft work well at MCO for couples and light packers, but for UK families with luggage, you need to check the luggage allowance. Uber opens in a new tab give prices on their website:

  • an UberX for up to4 starts at £27.00 ($36.00)
  • an UberXL for up to 6 starts at £37.49 ($50.00)
  • an Uber XXL for up to 6 with more luggage starts at £45.74 ($61.00)

Surge pricing can happen, and I’d budget more for a standard Uber than suggested, around £37.49 ($50.00) is more realistic. Budgeting for an XL or XXL if there is any more than 2 people and 2 cases is wise, and if you have any children who need car seats, bringing your own will make getting an Uber from MCO to Disney easier.

Setting up an Uber account before flying will also make things easier, and making sure you connect to the airport Wi-Fi before ordering to avoid roaming charges. Download the app, create your account, and link your payment card while you're still in the UK. While Uber is great for convenience, and good if you don’t have a plan for a transfer, there are cheaper and easier ways.

Does Disney World offer free transport to their hotels?

No, as standard Disney does not offer a free transport service to their hotels any more. However, if you were one of the first 1,000 people to book the 2027 UK free food and drinks offer you could have a free Minnie Van transfer. This was a limited time offer, and was snapped up very quickly.

What Are Disney's Minnie Vans?

Minnie Vans are Disney's premium airport transfer, polka-dot vehicles driven by Disney Cast Members and booked through the Lyft app. The Minnie Van airport service opens in a new tab is currently restricted to guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villas, or in Club Level rooms.

If you are staying in a Deluxe hotel and want to book a Minnie Van to your hotel prices start at around £149.23 ($199.00) for up to 6 people, and can be booked 60 days before and up to 2 days before. It’s a transfer you need to book in advance. You can call to book on: (407) 828-3500. You don’t need to worry about the car seat for this option if you are a family, they’ll bring one, just let them know when you book.

Do I Need A Car Seat For Transfers From MCO?

Depending on the transfer option you choose to use you will need to make sure that you have a car seat. Out of the options on this page you will need to have a car seat for:

  • Car hire options: rent one from the car hire company or bring your own
  • Private transfers: many companies have them and you can request them for the transfer when you book
  • UBER and Lyft options: can charge more for a car with a car seat and you can end up waiting longer. You also need to factor this into the size of UBER you need.
  • Minnie Vans: Tell Disney when you book and the driver will bring a car seat, so you don’t need to

Car seats are not needed for bus transportation, so you don’t need one for Mears Connect or the local Lynx bus service. You can read more about car seat requirements at Safety Belts and Child Restraints - Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles opens in a new tab.

What’s The Best Way To Get To Disney World From MCO?

The best way will depend on your individual needs and budget in 2026, but for a lot of UK visitors a transfer option that can be booked in advance so you know where to go when you get off the flight provides peace of mind.

Choosing how to get to Disney World resorts from MCO comes down to picking the best option for your party size and budget. There are plenty of options to choose from, and it is an easy airport to transfer from.

Questions About Transfers To Disney

Does Disney offer free transport to Disney World hotels from MCO?

No, Disney do not offer free transport as standard to Disney hotels as part of Disney package or hotel stays.

Can I get a free Minnie Van to my hotel from MCO?

There was a limited capacity offer for UK visitors booking to stay in Deluxe Resorts with the 2027 UK free food and drink offer that gave the first 2,500 people to book a free Minnie Van transfer for up to 6 people. However that sold out fairly quickly.

What replaced Disney's Magical Express?

Mears Connect replaced Disney's Magical Express, which Disney retired at the end of 2021. Magical Express was free and included luggage delivery to your room; Mears Connect is paid, luggage stays with you, and it's operated by Mears Transportation rather than Disney. Nothing free has replaced it, and there's no signs Disney plan to offer a free service again.
