Disney Store UK is now charging £2.50 for change-of-mind online returns, and for customers outside easy reach of London there is effectively no practical free alternative. Given Disney's current UK store network is limited to its Oxford Street flagship store and small concessions inside Selfridges in London and now Birmingham, there is no real workaround if you want to buy official Disney Store products.

What has changed with Disney Store UK returns?
Disney Store UK now charges £2.50 for most online returns made because a customer has changed their mind. The fee applies to returns submitted through Disney's returns portal from 3rd August 2026. It is exactly 6 months since Disney Store increased free delivery thresholds by £25 from £50 to £75. This means in the last 6 months Disney Store have increased customers postal costs by £27.50 overall, of you want free delivery or change your mind and want to send something back.
Disney says the charge will be shown when the customer completes the return request.

Disney have described the move as a response to wider changes within the retail industry and said the charge was necessary to continue providing the service customers expect.
The company continues to offer an extended return period of up to 30 days after an order is received. Once customers tell Disney that they intend to return something, the product must be sent back within 14 days.
Other Popular Retailers Who Charge For Returns & Sell Disney IP Merch
The wider change within the retail industry is not universal and there are numerous retailers who still offer free returns. These are perhaps places people may now turn to when looking to making a Disney merch purchase. Here are some of the retailers in the UK who already charge for returns, with the year they began charging for returns, and interestingly sell genuine Disney themed items:
Next (June 2018): Next was one of the earliest major retailers to make this shift, introducing a £1 charge for courier and parcel shop returns back in 2018 (a fee which has since increased).
Uniqlo (March 2021): Uniqlo changed its policy around March 2021, removing the ability to return online orders in-store for a full refund and introducing a £2.95 fee for postal returns.
Zara (May 2022): Zara made headlines across the retail industry when it introduced a £1.95 fee for online returns sent back via third-party drop-off points.
Boohoo (July 2022): Shortly after Zara's announcement, Boohoo followed suit by introducing a £1.99 fee for all parcels containing unwanted returned items.
H&M (Summer 2023): H&M rolled out a £1.99 return fee in the UK around the summer of 2023. However, they implemented a workaround by keeping returns free for customers who sign up for their free loyalty program.
This does mean that if you are buying Disney merch online and want to avoid returns charges because you aren’t sure about sizes, material textures, or just change your mind when it arrives, you’ll need to shop around.
Can Customers Avoid Disney Store UK's £2.50 Return Charge?
No, if you buy your items online with the Disney Store UK, the returns policy means that you’ll have to pay £2.50 to send something back if you change your mind. The only work-around would be to visit the Disney Store in Oxford Street to buy your items, or to head to one of the Disney Store concessions in Selfridges, however this is a limited work-around for most UK Disney Store fans. The new Disney Store concession in Selfridge’s Birmingham Bullring is a good option, but if you’re looking for a specific online item, especially if it’s clothing it’s probably not worth the trip given the range I personally saw in there at opening. With most stores and concessions in the south however, it’s either a special trip or the online option if you want to buy Disney Store UK products.
Customers across most of the UK do not have convenient access to a physical Disney Store. A shopper in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, northern England, the South West or many other areas would potentially spend considerably more than £2.50 travelling to store to shop and may end up needing to buy online for sizes or other items. Even customers living closer to London or Birmingham who buy in store or Selfridge’s concessions, may find that transport and parking costs make an in-person return uneconomical.
In practice, the in-store option is most useful to people who already live, work or plan to shop near Oxford Street, Selfridges London, Selfridges Birmingham or Selfridge’s Trafford Centre.
Can customers use their own postage instead?
Customers can avoid Disney's £2.50 portal fee by arranging their own return postage, but they must cover the cost themselves. Disney's announcement says it will not apply the £2.50 charge when customers return an order using their own label and postage.
However, this is an alternative return method rather than a free return. For a very small and light product, customers may find postage for less than £2.50. For clothing, toys, collectibles or larger parcels, the cost could exceed Disney's fee-particularly where tracked postage is used.
Disney say customers arranging their own return should retain proof of postage and consider using a service that provides suitable compensation if the parcel is lost.
Which Disney Store UK returns remain free?
Disney will not charge customers to return a product that is broken or faulty or an item that was supplied in error:
A product arrives damaged
An item is faulty or defective
Disney sends the wrong product
Disney says these products can be returned without charge, but you need to contact Disney before beginning the returns process.
What should customers check before buying from Disney Store UK?
Customers should now factor a possible £2.50 return cost into online purchases, particularly when buying clothing, costumes or products they have not seen in person. Before placing an order, it is worth checking:
Product measurements and sizing guides
If it’s part of an offer being aware that the entire bundle of items in the offer will need to be returned, including freebies like keys, if one item isn’t right.
Whether you feel the cost of a return outweighs the value of what' you’re buying, especially if you don’t reach the recently increased free delivery threshold of £75 and need to pay for delivery too.
Whether heading to a physical store will be easier.
Magic In A Minute
Disney Store UK is charging £2.50 for most change-of-mind online returns since 3 August 2026. For customers outside easy reach of those the Oxford Street Store, or Selfridge’s concessions the only way to shop with Disney Store UK is online and there is no realistic free workaround unless an item is faulty or incorrect. Shoppers can use their own postage, but they must pay for it, making the new charge an unavoidable extra cost for many online customers.
