Disney Cruise Line Teases Possible New York Return Ahead Of 25th August Announcement

Disney Cruise Line has teased a "big announcement" for 25th August 2026, sharing six mysterious latitude coordinates that appear to point towards several current and former departure ports, including New York City. With other clues seemingly in the image, Disney Cruise Line looks to be teasing a return to Manhattan for the first time since 2023.

Is Disney Cruise Line returning to New York?

It’s not yet confirmed, but it’s looking very possible following Disney Cruise Line’s teaser announcement this afternoon. They posted an image with clues pointing towards a New York return, including:

• a latitude of 40° 46.3' N which links to New York

• an apple constellation

The first latitude shown is: 40° 46.3' N. That runs through New York City and closely corresponds with Manhattan, where Disney Cruise Line has previously operated from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. What do Disney Cruise Line's six coordinates point to?

The six latitudes appear to correspond with New York, San Juan, Galveston, San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and Port Canaveral.

The latitude coordinates Disney shared across their socials are:

• 40° 46.3' N: New York City

• 18° 27' N: San Juan, Puerto Rico

• 29° 18.2' N: Galveston, Texas

• 32° 43.3' N: San Diego, California

• 26° 5.4' N: Fort Lauderdale, Florida

• 28° 24' N: Port Canaveral, Florida.

Most are familiar Disney Cruise Line homeports, but New York stands out because it isn't currently part of Disney's regular sailing schedule, making it considerably more interesting than established bases such as Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale.

The collection of locations also makes an itinerary or homeport announcement look likely, rather than the teaser referring to a new onboard attraction or a single cruise ship. Disney is, however, only promising a "big announcement".

Is Disney Also Teasing a Panama Canal Cruise In The Constellations?

It’s a possibility. The first constellation is an apple, there’s clearly a pal m tree, but the third faint constellation is more interesting clue. The third faint constellation looks like the outline of Panama, despite Panama not appearing among the six latitude clues. That could point towards a future Panama Canal repositioning itinerary. It could possibly link to more news about the new class of ship which was announced at D23 and is meant to be bringing new locations to the cruise line, although t is perhaps a bit too early for that announcement.

Why are Disney Cruise Line fans already expecting a New York return?

In July, observers noticed that Disney Cruise Line had appeared as a selectable parent company on the Manhattan Cruise Terminal schedule, with Disney Dream, Disney Magic, and Disney Treasure appearing among ship options.

However no Disney sailing dates were displayed, so the update can’t be seen as a confirmation that any of those ships were booked to sail from New York. IT could point to what Disney will be sharing in their announcement tomorrow though.

Today's Disney-created teaser therefore takes the story a step further, reinforcing the New York clue which is now coming from Disney Cruise Line itself rather than a third party.

When did Disney Cruise Line last sail from New York?

Disney Cruise Line last operated a season from New York in autumn 2023, when the Disney Dream sailed from Manhattan. Disney announced that the Dream would make its first New York season following its 2023 European deployment, offering four-, five- and six-night cruises from New York to Bermuda as well as a special sailing to Saint John, Canada.

Could the announcement be for Disney Cruise Line's 2027/28 itineraries?

It’s likely, as last year's equivalent autumn-to-spring itinerary announcement arrived on 19th August 2025, with phased bookings following later that month and general sales opening on 2nd September. That makes the timing a persuasive factor when deciphering what Disney Cruise Line is teasing.

Why would a Disney Cruise Line return to New York matter to UK travellers?

For UK Disney Cruise Line guests, New York could provide another interesting US departure option, particularly for anyone wanting to combine a cruise with a New York city break.

It would be very different from Disney's increasingly strong Southampton programme. Disney Cruise Line is already sailing from the UK currently during summer 2026, while the Disney Wish will make its Southampton debut in summer 2027.

New York would obviously involve a transatlantic flight, so it wouldn't replace the convenience of boarding in Southampton. But it could appeal to British travellers already considering a New York holiday who would like to add a Disney cruise without travelling down to Florida.
