Planning a Disney World holiday in Summer 2026 with a family from the UK often means trying to factor in Florida’s high temperatures, lots of walking and little legs that get tired easily, and the pressure to make every day count into one itinerary. When promotional events, like Cool KIDS SUMMER are announced it’s tricky knowing whether the additional events and attraction openings will impact your trip and if they should alter how you plan.
Cool KIDS SUMMER is obviously aimed at families, and it runs from 26th May to 8th September 2026, which will impact lots of UK families. Disney says the seasonal promotion will include kid-focused entertainment, character appearances, activities in the parks and extra family-friendly touches at selected Disney Resort hotels. It also involves key attraction openings, but the question for UK families is: what’s any of this going to add to my holiday and is it worth getting my head around even more experiences?

Events of interest for all age groups:
Cool KIDS SUMMER and UK School Holidays
Cool KIDS SUMMER runs from 26th May to the 8th September. For UK families these dates coincide with the following school holidays:
end of May-half term
6-week UK summer holidays.
UK children off during this period includes across a wide range of ages, from 5-18. If you are hoping of something for tweens and teens, this event is not likely to be that appealing, depending on your child. The Cool KIDS SUMMER offerings are better suited to the families with children aged 10 and under.
At Disney World the children category fits a very specific age group, age 3-9, which you will have noticed when booking Magic Tickets or Dining Plans. This summer offering is definitely tailored for that 3-9 age group. So, if you’re a UK family with under 10’s the Cool KIDS SUMMER events are worth learning about, whereas if your kids are older, there’s not much here other than extra character experiences that may be of interest.
Cool KIDS SUMMER Events Across The Parks
There are four main offerings as part of this promotion, designed to add that little extra magic to the Disney World experience for children. All of these activities have a kids-club vibe that you could expect at Haven during the school holidays, but with a Disney twist. They are ideal for giving under 10s that extra experience that will inevitably add more fun to their holiday.
Magic Kingdom: Jessie's Roundup: A Rip-Roarin' Revue!
Where: At the Diamond Horseshoe, with Jessie, Woody, Bullseye and friends, plus singing, dancing, games and playful activities.
What’s happening: Meet Jessie, Woody, Bullseye, and friends, doing singing, dancing, games, and playful activities.
Worth doing for UK families?: Yes, ideal for escaping the heat and keepings kids entertained. Plus a must do if you’re a Toy Story fan, just don’t get confused and think it’s at Hollywood Studios!
EPCOT: GoofyCore in CommuniCore Hall
Where: Communicore Hall
What’s happening?: DJ DANCE PANTS, the GOOF TROOP, and Goofy lead activities including Goofy Says, Balloon Bonanza and Parachutes 'n' Pipsqueaks.
Worth doing for UK families?: If your kids like fun and games and you want to get out of the heat this should add some fun to your day. It is really targeted at families with under 10s.
Disney Springs activities on select dates
Where: Around Disney Springs
What’s happening?: DJ dance parties, a splash pad, themed photo ops and summer-themed atmosphere. A Marketplace dance party on select nights.
Worth doing for UK families?: It’s not worth a trip to Disney Sprigs just to experience one of these events, but if you are planning some time shopping or eating at Disney Springs and you have children, it will definitely be worth leaving some extra time to stop by and join in.
Extra fun at both water parks
Where: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach
What’s happening?: Special character experiences, games, a dance party, and other activities. You can meet Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon and Goofy in beach attire at Blizzard Beach at different times during the day.
Worth doing for UK families?: While the games and dance party will have a stronger pull for the under 10s, seeing Stitch is worth noting for everyone, although this is not a specific meet and greet he is a character that is difficult to see so this summer it is worth dropping by Typhoon Lagoon just to see Stitch.
Events Worth Noting for Older Kids and Adults
Even though this event is tailored to families with children there are a couple of events happening that Disney Adults and people with older children may want to factor into their trip. This includes:
Seeing Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon; the only place you will see him on his own for free, just bare in mind it is not billed as a character meet and greet experience.
Jessie’s Round-up in Magic Kingdom and the chance to see Bullseye up close, even if you aren’t joining in.
Attraction openings on 26th May including Soarin’ Across America which is part of a wider celebration of 250 years of America that’s ongoing.
Extra character sighting in some on-site hotels and during Early Entry if you are staying on-site.
Whilst this is worth noting, it probably isn’t going to change how you tour the parks as a UK guest or impact when you plan on visiting areas, unless you are looking to avoid the inevitable high queues during the opening of attractions on 26th May. These Summer extras will give you a unique summer add-on experience for free, rather than changing your approach to touring Disney World.
Early Entry: Character Additions
Disney says guests may spot limited-time character experiences during Early Entry this summer. This is a bit of extra magic to keep an eye out for if you are staying in a Disney Hotel and making the most out of the Early Entry perk. We definitely suggest you plan to make the most of Early Entry to help beat the Florida summer heat, and while the chance of spotting characters is exciting, it doesn’t affect the usefulness or need to use this strategy in the summer.
How Cool KIDS SUMMER Affects Planning Your itinerary
The events offered during Cool KIDS SUMMER are wonderful add-ons for UK families that won’t change the overall shape of your itinerary. The extra experiences give more choice for keeping under 10s happy and they offer benefits for escaping the heat. For families touring Magic Kingdom and EPCOT the activities on offer help to get younger children out of the heat, while still packaging a rest as fun and exciting.
Planning takeaways:
Cool KIDS SUMMER activities at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT offer the perfect Summer rest stops to get kids out of the heat and into the air con while still having fun.
Extra character interaction adds more fun, but its not something to plan for.
A trip to Typhoon Lagoon is worth including in your itinerary if you want to see Stitch.
If you are staying in a hotel with characters dropping by this is worth noting as something to try and catch
On-site Magic For Families With Under 10s
Cool KIDS SUMMER experiences extend into some Disney World hotels bringing a bit of extra magic for those visitors staying on-site. The hotels are:
Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort
Disney's Pop Century Resort
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside.
The four resorts are probably some of the most popular with UK families, especially Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort for those who took advantage of the free 2026 dining plan offer. The four resorts will have set character appearance times and an expanded family activity itinerary. This great news for families planning pool days as there will be more on to keep children entertained.
Disney has confirmed families can expect: scheduled character appearances, special Disney Publishing libraries, a pyjama party/story time activity, pool parties, and campfire activities with marshmallows and Disney entertainment. While you won’t need to plan for this, knowing it is there helps you to make the most of your hotel time.
Magic In A Minute
Cool KIDS SUMMER activities offer UK families with under 10s the option of extra fun this summer, including offering an escape from the heat the kids will enjoy. Most of these extras are nice add-ons rather than itinerary changing and as long as you know what’s happening and where, you don’t need to add them to your itinerary to enjoy them. For UK families, Cool KIDS SUMMER is only relevant if you’ve got under 10s and is less extra planning to do and more that’s good to know about.
