Phil Clowes

Lifelong Disney fan, living on Disneyland Paris's doorstep for opening year - and regularly visiting Paris and Disney World ever since.

Growing up watching Disneyland Paris grow, it set the tone for how I view the parks today: completely hooked on the ambition, the storytelling and the sheer scale of the vision whilst watching the messy operational reality unfold in real time.Decades later whether I am heading across the Atlantic for another Walt Disney World trip or hopping over to Paris, I approach the parks as both an avid fan and a techy who cannot resist pulling the machinery apart to see how it genuinely ticks.

A modern Disney holiday is not just about pixie dust - it's powered by algorithms, dynamic pricing, server loads and smartphone apps. My aim is to strip away the PR gloss and look directly at what is happening under the bonnet. I love Disney when it gets things right because very little in the world compares to it. But when a paid system is clunky, an upsell is poor value or corporate spin is papering over basic operational friction, I'm on it.
