The Sleeping Beauty pantomime at Milton Keynes Theatre brings the timeless story of an enchanted slumber, a wicked curse, and a heroic prince to the stage in true panto fashion between Saturday 5 December 2026 and Sunday 10 January 2027.
Produced by Crossroads Pantomimes (the world's biggest pantomime producer), this show features pop sensation Alexandra Burke who brings powerhouse vocals to the role of the wicked Carabosse. While panto legend Christopher Biggins, who is celebrating over 60 years in panto this year, brings to life panto dame The Diva of Dreams.
The story is set in a familiar faraway Kingdom but does not have the same characters as Disney's animated or live action versions of sleeping Beauty. Princess Aurora is given a birthday gift by her villainous aunt Carabosse (played by Alexandra Burke). When she pricks her finger on an enchanted spinning wheel a cruel curse sends Aurora into a century-long sleep. As the kingdom hangs in the balance, Joey the Jester (Richard Cadell) with help from Sooty and Sweep, the glamorous Queen Passionella (Ceri Dupree), and The Diva of Dreams (Christopher Biggins) try to keep the castle from descending into total chaos.
Is it Worth Going To If You're A Disney Fan?
Yes, but it's based on the classic Sleeping Beauty folk tale rather than the Disney animated classic film,. It's a pantomime experience with slapstick humour, but this is an event the family can enjoy with a familiar Sleeping Beauty story. Expect anto comedy, contemporary pop music, and traditional characters rather than songs or characters directly licensed from the Walt Disney animated film. On during the UK school Christmas holidays, this is a theatre experience worth considering for families and adults this Christmas.
