Angelo Desimini, Senior Vice President, Licensed Partnerships & Brand Management at Disney Theatrical Group, said:
“Secret Cinema has assembled a remarkable team to create an experience that is both artistically ambitious and wonderfully entertaining. It's a chance for audiences to experience the world of Tortuga in an entirely new way.”
What's Causing The Excitement Around The Event?
Unlike traditional Secret Cinema events that culminate in a sit-down film screening, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Immersive Adventure represents a new format. The show weaves specially curated clips from the film with spectacular live theatrical storytelling, stunts, and a live band. Audiences will roam cinematic-scale sets, interacting with the cast and becoming a direct part of the action.
This is going to be an experience that puts audiences in the centre of the stage and seems to be taking theatre back to a more authentic experience more inline with Shakespeare's thinking. Shakespeare felt theatre was meant to be a shared experience, not a passive viewing. The line from Richard III comes to mind: "As in a theatre, the eyes of men, after a well-graced actor leaves the stage, are idly bent on him that enters next."
This experience will remove the "idly" viewing experience and instead immerse people as they move from set to set, asked to watch screens, hear live lines, and enter an atmosphere rather than watch a performance against the backdrop of a set.
Magic In A Minute

The new experience will now have a 16-week run, with a helm of newly announced award-winning stage and screen actors in the leading roles. This includes Olivier award-winning actor George Maguire taking on the role of Captain Jack Sparrow.
