The Single Rider queue option on Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom is closing in just a few days time, with signage expected to be taken down from the ride on Monday 21st September 2026. For UK holidaymakers planning on using free strategies to beat wait times, this may have you reconsidering your plans for how you’ll ride Expedition Everest, but we don’t think there’s any need to do that at all.

What’s Changing At Expedition Everest?
Expedition Everest will offer two queue-line options instead of three, as Single Rider is being removed on Monday 21st September. This means that anyone heading to Animal Kingdom from this date will only be able to:
Queue in the Stand-by line for free
Pay to use Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and queue in the Lightning Lane
Why is Disney removing the Single Rider line from Expedition Everest?
They have been trialling a new queue system during the summer, and it’s been effective in improving the through-put of the ride. (The number of people riding per hour). The new method, of separating guests into two queues, groups of odd numbers and groups of even numbers, before boarding has effectively made the need for Single Rider on this ride redundant.
Will Wait Times Increase Because Single Rider Is Gone?
No, Disney have been testing a new system that means anyone who was using Single Rider to get lower wait times for free, should find the queue line is moving well enough that you don’t wait any longer when using the regular Stand-By Line.
Why UK Families Visiting Animal Kingdom Don’t Need To Change Park Day Plans
This news is not going to change how you plan to ride Expedition Everest, and if you were planning on using Single Rider as a free strategy to skip a longer wait line in the stand-by line I don’t think you’ll need it. The Stand-by line is moving more efficiently with the new system for loading passengers onto the ride and during summer testing the queue moved swiftly enough that they did close the Single Rider line at times.
