If you're heading to Disneyland Paris this November, you can now meet Darth Vader the old-fashioned way, by joining a stand-by queue. The park has quietly removed the virtual queue for the Star Wars villain's meet and greet at Starport: A Star Wars Encounter in Discoveryland.

Changing The Queue System

The virtual queue system, first introduced at the Hero Training Centre in 2022, expanded to Darth Vader's Starport earlier this year. Guests previously had to log into the Disneyland Paris app at set times (9:45 a.m. or 2 p.m.) to secure a boarding slot. Those who missed out often faced disappointment, something more common on those busier days.

Now, the system has been fully retired for this experience. Visitors can simply join a regular standby queue during operating hours, making it easier for families and Star Wars fans to plan their day. This change removes the threat of disappointment, extra planning constraints, and reduces the amount of time you’ll spend in the app.

Why Disney Made the Change

Unlike other high-demand meet and greets, such as the Princess Pavilion or Santa Claus Village, Darth Vader tends to attract a steadier, more predictable flow of guests. The large outdoor area in Discoveryland also allows for a manageable queue without causing congestion.

This adjustment reflects a growing shift at Disneyland Paris, which appears to be reviewing virtual queues on a case-by-case basis. While locations with smaller spaces or heavy demand seem likely keep the system for now, others could follow Vader's lead and return to traditional standby lines.

What UK Visitors Should Know

If you're planning a Disneyland Paris holiday from the UK, this update means one less thing to manage in the app. You can simply walk up and meet Darth Vader whenever Starport is open. A welcome relief for anyone juggling other rides, as you no longer have the 60 minute rush to get from one attraction to your virtual queue meet and greet.

The park remains busy this season, with Avengers Campus open and World of Frozen set to debut spring 2026, so expect longer standby waits at the most popular experiences. And don’t be surprised to find plenty more virtual queues popping up next Spring in the World of Frozen.

The Magic in a Minute

You can now meet Darth Vader at Disneyland Paris without a virtual queue. Just join the line at Starport and prepare to face the mighty Sith Lord, leader of the Dark Side, in person.
