Disney World Summer 2026: Will the New Muppet Mayhem Coaster Be Ready for UK School Holidays?

As of last night, March 1st, 2026, the era of Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is officially over. The process of reimagining the coaster has begun. Many UK fans are asking whether the reimagined Muppets version will be open in time for UK school holidays, a time when many families from the UK head out to Disney World.

Disney have shared that the ride will be open by Summer 2026, but what does this timeline really look like? If you’re hoping to experience the new ride during your summer holiday trip from the UK you might also be wondering how the ride is going to change.

3rd March 2026 Update: Aerosmith Erased Overnight

Less than 48 hours after the final limo took off, Disney has moved at lightning speed to strip the Aerosmith branding from Hollywood Studios. As of this morning:

• The Marquee is Gone: Scaffolding now surrounds the iconic 40ft Stratocaster, with the "Aerosmith" lettering and posters already removed or covered in beige scrim.

• Muppet Presence Confirmed: The first physical signs of the retheme have arrived! Two new "Under Construction 2026" pressed penny machines featuring the Muppets (including the Swedish Chef and Fozzie Bear) were installed in the courtyard this morning.

• A "Moving" Teaser: New construction walls feature the slogan: "We're Moving Right Along. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is currently closed as we load in the band!"

Opening “Summer”: Is That In Time For UK School Holidays?

In Disney terms, "Summer" is a very elastic term that covers quite a big time period from early May to August. Disney have not confirmed a fixed date, but to help you manage expectations, we've looked at the track record of recent major ride and land openings.

This shows that recent land and experience openings slated for Summer have made it in time for the UK summer holidays. Historically, Disney tries to hit Memorial Day, (late May), or late June to catch the American domestic crowd. This works well for UK holiday makers in England, Wales, and Scotland as this coincides with their school holiday.

Celebrating 250 Years Of America

Disney is celebrating 250 years of America across the resort, including a new overlay for Soarin’, Soarin’ Over America. The Soarin Across America overlay was also announced as beginning in Summer 2026, and this is now revealed to begin Memorial Day, 25th May 2026.

It is possible that Disney will be aiming for a similar opening date for Muppets mayhem coaster, although this is not confirmed.

Height Requirement & Intensity Changes

For UK families planning their trips the question of the height requirement and thrill ride experience are big in people’s minds.

The Aerosmith version was 48 inches (122cm). Planners are being asked if the Muppet theme means the ride’s height requirement and thrill factor is being changed to make it more suitable for younger kids. The ride system is remaining the same, including the 0-57 mph launch and inversions, so the height requirement or G-Force is unlikely to change.

What happens to the Giant Guitar?

The 40-foot Stratocaster is a landmark. Photos released by … today show that the Aerosmith logo is already gone, and the guitar is currently no longer on the My Disney Experience App.

The guitar is set to stay according to concept images. The guitar will be repainted to have a psychedelic colour scheme to represent the Electric Mayhem.
