What To Expect Inside Disneyland Paris's New Immersive Shop?
The new Disney Wonders store opened today, Tuesday 22nd September 2026, and it’s meant to be a shopping experience that also takes you on a story-telling journey, with distinct areas and a more modern feel. Here’s what the layout and changes break down into:
Detail | What’s there? |
|---|---|
Location | Disney Village, Disneyland Paris, part of the new transformation of the shopping area |
Featured worlds: it’s a shop that wants to tell a story | Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars |
What are the main store centrepieces inside? | Two chandeliers, each with more than 40 illustrations |
What other displays are inside? | Illuminated Marvel and Star Wars light boxes, Tinker Bell pixie dust and Pixar's Luxo Jr. lamp |
Has the way you pay changed to a modern till experience? | Yes, you put your items in a lowered box that scans like a library book return system in the UK. |
Outside façade themes: designed to tell a story from the outside in, but what appears on the outside of Disney Wonders? | Original artwork inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios' Peter Pan, Toy Story and Star Wars |
Disney Village sits between the Disney Parks and the resort hotels, and the new shop occupies the same site as the previous Disney Store which closed to guests for the last time on 3rd January 2026, after 33 years. The new boutique forms part of the destination's wider transformation into a more contemporary place to shop, dine and spend time before, between or after visits to the parks.
What’s Inside Disney Wonders?
Diseny Wonders is a very modern looking Disney retail space, and it aims to bring together four major storytelling worlds into one boutique shopping experience. The Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars areas do have an incredibly modern feel and merchandise is staged with a contemporary twist that relies heavily on intricate illuminated displays and character artwork.
With more than 80 illustrations across two chandeliers, you’ll find yourself staring for a while as they are both unique and beautiful forming the visual centrepieces of Disney Wonders. Each chandelier is trying to tell Disney and Pixar stories, but they feel a bit like art installations, with 40 single images suspended in the lighting for each area.
The storytelling continues around the store with light playing a key role, as illuminated light boxes featuring characters from Marvel and Star Wars continue the theme. Less intricate than the chandeliers, they have a simpler feel that fits in with the story telling style of Marvel and Star Wars.
Storytelling continues to the two checkout areas continue the boutique's storytelling. One celebrates the artistry of Walt Disney Animation Studios, while the other is devoted to Pixar Animation Studios. Illustrations inspired by memorable scenes are enhanced with two familiar touches: Tinker Bell's pixie dust and Pixar's Luxo Jr. lamp.
Disney calls these details "Magic Moments", mall discoveries intended to reward guests for looking closely and to carry the immersive design through to the end of a visit. They also play with light, which is the medium Disneyland Paris are using to tell this shops story.
How Does Disney Wonders Change Your Shopping Experience?
It doesn’t. And the modern look lacks some of the Disney magic that we have come to expect from Disney retail, such as large character displays. The lighting is sophisticated and I do like it, but it’s missing something quintessentially Disney. The merch inside is laid out well and the display doesn’t impact the fact that this is still going to be a place high on everyone’s must do list during a Disneyland Paris trip from the UK.
Stop and stare at the chandeliers, if you can when it’s not too busy; the lights are nice and the merch is what we expect from Disney. Does it feel like a story telling experience; not quite.
How Does Disney Wonders Fit With The Wider Disney Village Transformation?
Disney Wonders arrives as part of Disney Village's multi-year transformation which is approaching its final chapter.
It’s a redevelopment began in December 2023 with the opening of Brasserie Rosalie. Since then, Disneyland Paris has been reshaping Disney Village with redesigned façades, more transparent storefronts and a mix of brick, wood and steel intended to create a warmer, more modern identity. It has more of a Downtown Disney vibe, than a Disney Springs so far, for anyone looking to compare, although it is very much it’s own space.
The new boutique is one of the clearest examples of that direction: a retail space designed not simply to sell Disney products, but to surround guests with artwork and details from the stories behind them.
Jean-David Marque, Vice President, Merchandise Product & Operations, described Disney Wonders as:
"Disney Wonders will offer a completely reimagined shopping experience, designed to bring Disney’s biggest franchises to life through themed spaces and contemporary staging"
Magic In A Minute
Disney Wonders opens at Disney Village today, 22nd September 2026. It’s a modern and bright retail experience that heavily uses light to tell stories in defined merchandise areas. The Disney merch on sale includes Disneyland Paris exclusives, and other items you can get more readily, including pieces you’ll find in the Disney Store in the UK. It’s a space worth visiting as part of your Disneyland Paris holiday, just don’t expect the classic Disney retail feel.
