Starting 28th June 2026, Walt Disney World is permanently restricting access to buses and boats departing from Disney Springs. To board transport heading to a Disney Resort hotel, you must scan your MagicBand or app to prove you have an active hotel reservation, a resort dining booking, or a booked resort activity. Off-site guests can no longer use Disney Springs as a free transport hub to access the wider resort or bypass theme park parking fees.

What’s Changing To Disney Springs Transport Rules?

On 15th June 2026, Plan Disney confirmed that Disney Springs Transport rules are permanently changing from Sunday 28th June 2026. From this date the following rules will apply:

  • Guests heading to resorts from Disney Springs will need to go through a check point and prove they have one of the following:

    • An advanced dining reservation (ADR) or activity reservation at the resort they are travelling to

    • Are staying at the hotel

    • Have an activity reservation at the resort they are travelling to.

How The Change Affects UK Holidaymakers

UK holidaymakers will be affected by this change if they have hired a car and planned to try and park at Disney Springs to get to the parks via a resort, or if they had plans to park hop to resorts from Disney Springs. These new rules will impact how UK visitors plan, budget, and spend time during rest days.

Affected Disney Springs transport includes:

  • Disney buses

  • Sassagoula River Cruise watercraft

Ends Controversial Free Parking Hack

Some UK visitors, and US visitors, staying in off-site villas would park their hire car at Disney Springs for free, then hop on a bus to a Disney hotel near a park like Magic Kingdom, and then easily transfer to avoid the $35 (£26.60) daily parking fee. Using this parking hack may be part if the reason for the rule change.

As Disney is permanently closing this loophole, people looking to skip the parking fee will no longer be able to do so. You will need to park at the theme parks and pay the daily fee.

Changes to Rest Day Resort Hopping Plans

Rest day Resort hopping is something that many UK visitors look forward to as part of a Disney World holiday. People visiting Disney Springs could previously head to any resort for free from the retail hub’s bus station. However, spontaneous resort hopping from Disney Springs is no longer allowed. This means that if you want to visit a Disney Resort from Disney Springs to sightsee or buy a quick-service snack without an official reservation, Cast Members will turn you away at the bus loop and boat docks.

Can You Still Resort-Hop Between Disney Hotels?

Yes. The new restrictions only apply to transport leaving from Disney Springs. If you are an on-site guest, or if you are travelling between the theme parks and the resorts via the Monorail, Disney Skyliner, or park buses, standard resort hopping is still allowed for now.

Can Annual Passholders still use Disney Springs buses?

No. There are no exceptions to the rules for Annual Passholders. Unless an Annual Passholder also has a confirmed hotel stay, dining or activity reservation, they cannot use the buses or boats from Disney Springs to the resorts. However, Annual Passholders already receive free standard theme park parking.

Magic In A Minute

From 28th June 2026, Disney Springs will no longer allow spontaneous resort hopping using the free Disney bus transport option or Sassagoula River Cruise watercraft. Visitors using resort buses will either need a valid hotel reservation, dining reservation or activity reservation to board the bus.
