Travel Chaos & New Fireworks: The Essential Pre-NYE Disney UK News Round-Up

By Helen
Daily Disney News from the UK - 30th December 2025

It is the penultimate day of 2025, and while eyes are fixed on tomorrow's New Year's Eve celebrations, breaking news this morning has thrown a wrench into the plans of thousands of UK families heading to France.

Here is your essential briefing for Tuesday, 30th December 2025, covering the urgent Eurotunnel delays, tonight's new and not feeling like rehearsal fireworks in Florida, and the box office juggernaut you need to see.

TRAVEL ALERT: Eurotunnel Power Failure Halts Cross-Channel Traffic

We start with urgent news for anyone travelling to Disneyland Paris today or tomorrow. A significant overhead power supply failure in the Channel Tunnel has resulted in severe delays and cancellations this morning.

Eurostar has suspended all services for the remainder of the day (30th Dec), and Le Shuttle is reporting delays of up to 4 hours at the Folkestone terminal.

If you are booked on a crossing today, do not head to the terminal without checking your operator's app. If you are travelling tomorrow (New Year's Eve) for the celebrations, expect knock-on delays as they clear the backlog. We recommend packing extra food and water in the car if you are driving. Florida Watch: New Fireworks At Magic Kingdom Tonight

For our readers currently on the ground in Orlando, tonight is arguably the best night of the year at the Magic Kingdom.

Why? The park will perform its full New Year's Eve fireworks show, Fantasy in the Sky, tonight (30th Dec) at 11:50 PM.

This is what we call the "warm-up" show, identical to tomorrow's midnight display but traditionally slightly less crowded. If you want to see the 360-degree perimeter fireworks without the crush of actual New Year's Eve, get to the hub or the Polynesian Beach tonight.

Cinema: Avatar: Fire and Ash Dominates

The world has officially returned to Pandora. Following its release on 19th December, Avatar: Fire and Ash has retained the #1 spot at the UK box office, decimating the competition.

With the film officially crossing the $500,000,000 (£380,022,953.39) mark globally, rumours are swirling that the new "Ash People" aesthetic will be integrated into the upcoming rumoured Avatar expansions at Disneyland Paris. If you love the bioluminescence of Pandora, and The World of Avatar in Florida, this film is required viewing to understand the darker, volcanic direction the franchise (and potential future rides) is taking. It’s definitely worth a trip to the movies.

Disney+ UK: Holiday Stream Team

If the travel chaos has you stuck at home, or you're just saving energy for tomorrow night, Disney+ has dropped some gems to see out the year.

The Roses, released earlier this month, this dark comedy reimagining of The War of the Roses starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch has become the surprise hit of the Christmas break. It's chaotic, British, and perfect for the mood if your travel plans have gone awry.

And don't forget, that Disney+ has a little something lined up for New Year’s Eve morning! The latest episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Season 2, drops. Episode 5 promises to be a pivotal mid-season chapter, so avoid spoilers if you're out celebrating.

And if you need a soundtrack for your NYE party, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (The Final Show), which dropped earlier this month, is still the top-streamed special in the UK, and worth getting on for those party vibes.

Until tomorrow, Happy New Year’s Eve Eve!
