Why this new book is exciting for all fans
Even if you don’t usually consider Disney books, this one looks worth reading when it’s released in April. But according to Disney Adventure Has a New Name is doing something different, and that makes it a very interesting purchase option for all Disney fans, not just us Imagineering nerds and Disney adults.
As Disneyland Paris officially transitions from Walt Disney Studios Park to Disney Adventure World on March 29, 2026, this new 450-page deep-dive book is set to follow in April: "Adventure Has a New Name - The Making of Disney Adventure World." If you are a self-proclaimed Disney Adult or an Imagineering nerd, this isn't just a souvenir it’s a book you’ll want. Here is why it belongs on your coffee table.
The book looks set to offer a dedicated chapter, or more, into the areas no fan can yet experience, as it is still being built. Disney say:
"Each chapter will offer an immersive dive into the park’s iconic areas, from Adventure Way to World of Frozen, but also World Premiere, Avengers Campus, and Worlds of Pixar, and even a glimpse into the park’s near future as well."
By dedicating a significant portion of its 450 pages to the "near future," Disney is handing fans the keys to the kingdom before they have experienced the actual attractions.
We are all waiting for more than just a grainy leaked photo of the Lion King area. This book is expected to share official concept art that gives us a clearer vision of Pride Rock's integration into the park's skyline. It's a literal blueprint for what we'll be experiencing in 2027 and beyond.
Sharing the why behind the transformation
For years, fans have debated the identity crisis of the second park. This book looks set to offer some of the closure we need. By tracing the history from the park's 2002 opening right through the expansion process into Disney Adventure World and beyond.
This book looks set to provide the definitive answer as to why the old layout had to go. It isn't just about what's new; it's about the story of the strategic shift from "behind-the-scenes movie making" to the immersive storytelling as seen in the lands being opened and created around Adventure Bay.
Arendelle: Paris vs. Hong Kong
One of the most fascinating chapters will undoubtedly be the building of Arendelle and World of Frozen. While Hong Kong Disneyland was the first to bring Frozen to life, Paris has a different energy, and more relevance for UK fans as more UK visitors will get to experience it. There is no hint of a Hong Kong comparison being included in the book, but with interviews from Imagineers guaranteed as part of the storytelling, it surely has to be part of the creative narrative.
This book promises insights into the inspiration and a look into the creative process, that may also provide Easter Eggs for fans to find. If you’re worried about the magic of Arendelle being lost in the knowledge of the creative inspiration, it isn’t something I would worry about. Given the detail of the construction, this book should add to your experience of visiting the parks, rather than take away the magic.
We Call It Imagineering: a book
If you are a fan of the We Call It Imagineering series on YouTube, this book looks set to provide a similar context, just in written and picture form. Within the 450 pages the book will have visual spoilers; Disney said:
"[It will be] Richly illustrated with archival photographs and sketches – many never seen before"
Since the park is still technically a construction site, the images in this book may provide that over the wall insight and spoilers into what fans can expect from the new lands. Exactly the content, but hopefully a far more comprehensive version of the "We Call It Imagineering" episodes we all love to binge-watch.
The bilingual layout
In the spirit of honesty, there is one minor downside for the English-speaking audience. Like previous Disneyland Paris releases, (like Phantom Manor Decrypted), this book features French and English text on the same pages. From one perspective, you’re not going to pick up the wrong version and end up at home with something you can’t read.
n the other, while it's a great way to brush up on your French, it does mean that valuable page real estate is split between two languages. We'd all love more photos or deeper technical specs, but this is the way Disneyland Paris do books.
How to get it as a UK fan
This book is launching as a Resort Exclusive in April. This means it’s only available in the parks, so if you aren't hopping over to Disneyland Paris in April, you have two choices:
Use a personal shopper if you can’t wait
Play the waiting game and hope for a wider release at Disney Store UK , but given the "Exclusively at Disneyland Paris" tag in the announcement, don't count on it happening quickly.
Pick one up second-hand if someone parts with one, but again that is less likely and you’ll be waiting and playing a game of chance.
