The most iconic landmark at Walt Disney World, Cinderella Castle, is about to get a fresh new look. Or should that be classic look?
Since opening in 1971, Cinderella Castle has had a few magical makeovers, not from arguing fairy Godmothers, but rather from the minds of the Disney Imagineers. The most recent colour scheme, featuring the pinks we see today, was unveiled during Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebrations. But now, five years later, the castle is going to be transformed.
Bippity Boppity Boo! The Colour Changes
Disney Imagineers are drawing inspiration from classical images of Cinderella Castle, conjuring a colour palette that represents the original, timeless fairy tale style.
The refreshed colours are set to be:
Elegant greys and creams for the stonework
Deep, rich blues for the rooftops
Touches of shimmering gold to highlight the details.
The tones have been chosen to sparkle in the bright Florida sunshine, while remaining vibrant for years.

Cinderella Castle is at the heart of the most visited theme park in the world, Magic Kingdom, and it is an icon that brings a tear to the eye for many fans as they walk up Main Street. So changing the appearance has caused quite a few reactions, the vast majority of which have been positive.
The new colour scheme will work well in the opinion of this Disney fan girl, providing a great contrast to the darkness that will be looming just around the corner in Villains Land when that opens.
When will the update happen?
The news of the Castle’s transformation was shared during the D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney convention, with a full timeline still yet to be announced.
