Inside Paris CDG

If you're planning a Disneyland Paris break and flying in from the UK, navigating Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, (CDG), is about to get a whole lot easier. If you’ve ever landed in CDG you’ll know only too well the confusion of the terminal names. The combination of letters and numbers makes navigating your way around, amongst crowds of passengers with bags, a stressful and confusing experience. From early 2027, this will no longer be the case.

Europe's busiest airport is set for a major transformation, including a complete renaming of its terminals, and the launch of a brand-new express rail service into Paris. Both changes will arrive in March 2027.

A Simpler Terminal System Is Coming

Charles De Gaulle, (CDG), currently operates an infamously confusing layout with 11 terminals labelled 1, 3 and a maze of Terminal 2 variations (2A-D, 2EK, 2EL, 2EM, 2F and 2G).

The image below shows the current Terminal naming structure:

From March 2027, all of these will be reorganised into a cleaner, more intuitive system. The terminals will be simply be named Terminals 1, 2 ,3 ,4 ,5 6, and 7.

Key changes include:

  • Today's Terminal 3 becoming Terminal 2

  • Terminals 2A and 2C merging into the new Terminal 3

  • Numbers appearing only outside terminals; letters used inside for departure lounges

  • Car parks adopting the same numbering as their terminal

Airlines selling tickets more than 12 months ahead will begin using the new names from March 2026, so some UK travellers may start seeing updated labels earlier than expected. The image below shows the new simpler naming structure of the Terminals from March 2027:

Why This Matters for UK Disneyland Paris Visitors

More than 30% of CDG's 76 million annual passengers are international or connecting flyers, and the airport openly admits many struggle to find their way around. For UK visitors heading to Disneyland Paris , particularly first-timers, clearer terminal names should make transfers to shuttle buses, car hire or the TGV station far smoother.

CDG says the new system will match international standards and make the airport "perfectly intuitive", a welcome update for families landing with excited children and lots of luggage.

A Massive Project Behind the Scenes

The renaming effort is huge; it’s equivalent to re-signposting one-third of Paris. Between September and December 2026, the airport’s revealed that they will replace:

  • 3,000+ terminal panels

  • 600 parking signs

  • 250 road signs

All new signs will remain covered until the public rollout in March 2027. In addition, the project will include the reprogramming of 10,000 surveillance cameras and hundreds of digital systems. Around 900 companies and 90,000 employees across the airport will be involved in the shift.

CDG Express: A Faster Route to Disneyland Paris

Also launching 28 March 2027 is the long-awaited CDG Express; a premium, non-stop train from Paris Gare de l'Est to the airport. It will:

  • Travel 32km in just 20 minutes and

  • Run every 15 minutes, from 05:00 to midnight.

This will offer a faster, more reliable option compared to the existing RER B route, which takes around 30 minutes from Gare du Nord and makes several stops. The RER currently costs €13, while CDG Express fares are still to be confirmed.

For guests connecting into central Paris before taking the TGV to Disneyland Paris, this could shave significant time off travel.

A Stronger Gateway to Disney Magic

CDG is already a powerhouse airport; the number one passenger airport in the EU, serving 328 destinations across 119 countries, contributing 3% of France's national wealth, and supporting 160,000 jobs regionally. It has also been named Best European Airport by Skytrax for four years running.

With clearer terminals and a faster rail link, flying from the UK into Paris Charles De Gaulle for a Disneyland trip should soon feel smoother, quicker, and a bit less stressful as the airport will be easier to navigate.

Magic in a Minute

From 2027, CDG will be far easier to navigate and with the new CDG Express offering rapid access to Paris, UK visitors heading to Disneyland Paris can expect a much more streamlined arrival experience.
