Magic Kingdom TRON: Ares Limited Time Red Ride Overlay Starts 15 September 2025
TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom is getting a new overlay to celebrate the next chapter in the Tron movie franchise, Tron Ares. From today, the grid will be infected with new colours and a grittier more rugged sound courtesy of rock band Nine Inch Nails (NIN). You can hear they’re first track from the new soundtrack below.
Expect your ride experience to feel a bit edgier as you fly round the grid to new pulsating sounds, set to feel even more futuristic than before.

TRON Ares is due out in cinemas on 10th October, 2025 and you can watch the trailer below.
Promising a visually spectacular film, with an incredible soundtrack from rock legends Nine Inch Nails (NIN), this is being billed as a film made for IMAX screens. From the looks of it, it might just be right. The plotline might feel eerily close to home as AI continues to advance at a pace here in the real world. Ares is a digital program created by a tech entrepreneur and sent into the human world with a mission, and is humankind’s first experience with AI beings.
Featuring Jared Leto as Ares, the AI beings will raise all sorts of questions for viewers about the use of AI in society as the film explores AI beings as super soldiers and advanced digital-human hybrids. This film is definitely one to watch when it comes out.

TRON Lightcycle Run Overlay End Date
The overlay is not due to be around for long, and was announced at the latest D23 Walt Disney Studios showcase. Yvette Nicole Brown announced the news, sharing that in celebration of the release of Tron: Ares both TRON Lightcycle Run in Walt Disney World and TRON Lightcycle Power Run in Shanghai Disneyland will be getting the limited edition overlay.
If you’re lucky enough to be in Magic Kingdom in the coming months, you’ll be able to experience this version of TRON. There’s no end date for the overlay yet, but our best guess would be that the overlay will last until the New Year.
NIN - Official Music Video
The official music video by Nine Inch Nails for the new TRON: Ares film dropped a few days ago. The track, As Alive As You Need Me To Be, has got a gritty synth sound that’s pretty catchy. The video is as whirling as a ride on TRON, why not check it out below.
