Disney Cruise Line has announced that the long-awaited Disney Adventure, the fleet’s first ship to be based in Singapore, will set sail three months later than planned. Her maiden voyage was set to be on December 15, 2025 with guests already booked on, however the ship’s maiden voyage has now been pushed back to March 10, 2026.

The news affects more than 20 scheduled sailings, leaving many eager guests having to rebook or adjust their holiday plans. For any UK guests who were booked to head out to Singapore this will require some major holiday replanning, including rescheduling long haul flights. Lets hope those affected have some comprehensive cruise insurance in place.

Why has the Disney Adventure been delayed?
The burning question that everyone needs answering is, why has this delay occurred? The ship was only a few days out of the shipyard, having begun sea trials on 1st September. Date changes were announced on 11th September.
According to Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences, the delay is due to “unexpected challenges in the shipbuilding process”. Disney is keen to reassure guests and fans that the issues are not safety related, but rather about ensuring that every last detail meets the company’s high standards.
"As we work on the final touches to bring the Disney Adventure to our guests, we’ve encountered unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process. To ensure the experience we deliver reflects our commitment to excellence, we’ve made the decision to adjust our timeline."
This is not the first time that Disney have delayed the maiden voyage of one of their fleet. The Disney Wish, who has her homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida was originally due to have her maiden voyage on 9th June, 2022. However, she too faced delays with passengers receiving similar compensation. Her maiden voyage was 14th July, 2022, on a 5-night Bahamian cruise.
Guest Rebooking and Refund Options
Cruises on the Disney Adventure sold out the day they were released nearly a year ago on 10th December, 2024. That means that eager guests have been waiting with anticipation for nine months to embark on their Disney Adventure. The refund options that Disney are offering very much reflect the disappointment that these guests will inevitably be feeling.
Guests booked onto the maiden voyage that was scheduled for 15th December , 2025, are automatically being moved to the new maiden voyage on 10th March, 2026. They are also being compensated with a refund of 50% of their cruise fare. For guests unable to make the new date, they are receiving 100% refund and a voucher for 50% off a Disney Cruise departing on or before 27th March, 2026.
Guests booked onto subsequent cruises up to 12th March 2026 are being offered the same compensation.
For anyone who has booked an Asia cruise on the Disney Adventure, this compensation will cover the full cost of the cruise, but not flights and accommodation in Singapore before the cruise begins. The responsibility to change the dates of supporting travel and accommodation will fall to the passenger or their travel agent.
What Makes Disney Adventure Special?
When she launches, the Disney Adventure will become the largest ship in the Disney cruise line fleet, with a capacity for around 6,700 guests. The ship is not new, but rather a reimagining of the Global Dream, a boat Disney purchased in 2022 following the collapse of Dream Cruises.

The impressive reimagining of this ship will result in a cruise boat offering 3 rides at sea. The rollercoaster, Ironcycle Test Run, is set to run on an 820 foot track, making it the largest coaster at sea. It sill be suspended 30ft in the air. The other two rides are Pym Quantum Racers and Groot Galaxy Spin.
If the ride names didn’t give you a clue, this ship will feature plenty of Marvel characters, 7 neighbourhoods, and Duffy and friends. Featuring lots of firsts for Disney Cruise Line, this will also be the first of the Disney Cruise Line boats to be based in Southeast Asia, calling the port of Singapore home.

The ship will sail three and four-night itineraries from Singapore all year round, giving UK guests an exciting reason to consider combining a Southeast Asia trip with a Disney cruise holiday.
Disney Cruise Line Going Strong
Disney Cruise Line is continuing to expand at a fast pace. The Disney Destiny, a Wish-class Disney cruise ship is still on schedule for its November 2025 debut from Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Destiny will give guests an entirely different experience than the Disney Treasure and is the third Wish-class cruise ship to be joining the fleet.
With Disney Cruise Line going strong, UK Disney cruise fans are going to have many more holiday options in the coming years. With sailings from here in the UK in the summer, sailing from Europe, Canada, and all year round sailings in Florida and soon Singapore, the Disney experience at sea is expanding.
Should UK travellers wait for Disney Adventure?
In short, yes! The delay does mean you’ll have to wait a little longer to experience Disney’s first ship in Asia, but what an experience it looks set to be! With the promise of cutting edge-attractions and itineraries sailing from one of Asia’s most vibrant cities, the Disney Adventure promises to be worth the wait.
Travel tip for UK travellers: Consider combining a trip to Singapore with a longer holiday in Southeast Asia. With direct flights from London taking just under 14 hours, pairing a Disney cruise with a visit to Hong Kong Disney (a 4 hour flight away) could be a magical once-in-a-lifetime trip.
