Disney+ Subscription Cost Increases Over 2 Years
Over the last two years Disney+ subscribers in the UK have experienced a 40% increase in their costs to enjoy the Disney+ annual premium subscription package. Let’s take a look at the increase in cost across all subscription levels.
Disney+ Subscription | 2024 Price Increases From 17th October 2024 | 2025 Price Increases From 30th September 2025 | Increase in £ Over 2 Years | Percentage Increase In 2 Years Overall |
Disney+ Standard with Ads - monthly | £4.99 - no increase | £4.99 to £5.99 | £1 | 20.04% |
Disney+ Standard - monthly | £7.99 to £8.99 | £8.99 to £9.99 | £2 | 25.03% |
Disney+ Standard - annually | £79.90 to £89.90 | £89.90 to £99.90 | £20 | 25.03% |
Disney+ Premium - monthly | £10.99 to £12.99 | £12.99 to £14.99 | £4 | 36.40% |
Disney+ Premium- annually | £109.90 to £129.90 | £129.90 tp £149.90 | £40 | 36.40% |
This means that every Disney+ subscriber has seen at least a 20% increase in their subscription costs since 2024. And this year, those paying the lowest subscription will see a 20% increase in costs. Not only is the price increasing, Disney+ are introducing a new type of subscription too.

New Extra Member Subscription
Following the password crackdowns of 2024, Disney have introduced a new subscription offer. It’s ideal for families with family members or friends living in a different household who only watch the odd show or film on Disney+ as they can be added on to the plan. The new Extra Member subscription add on gives the person the chance to stream on one additional device and create and access one additional profile. The cost does however seem a little high, given the person could just get their own subscription for the same amount. Extra member subscription costs:
£4.99 extra per month for the standard subscription with ads
£5.99 extra per month for Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium
If you’re thinking about this one, perhaps consider signing up on your own for your own account as there is no difference in the price. It may actually be Disney+ way of taking the crackdown on account sharing that one step further.
Is Disney+ Still Worth It?
For many UK Disney fans the subscription to Disney+ provides that connection to the parks when you can’t get back ‘home’. Offering behind the scenes insights on rides and other unique Disney content that you can’t get elsewhere. Fans of specific TV series may also be more willing to absorb the cost and see the value in the subscription. If Disney+ is your go to for entertainment at home then the increase may still mean you are getting value for money.
With that said, the casual Disney+ viewer may have more to consider. Disney+ is not the only TV subscription service rising prices at a rapid rate. Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, Sky, and Paramount are regularly increasing their prices, making choosing where to spend your money a tougher decision. If you are watching only one or two seasons of a show at a time, or tuning in only for specific films and series on an ad hoc schedule, it might be worth rotating your subscriptions rather than keeping them all year-round.

Getting the Best Value
If you’re looking to get the best value from Disney+, here are our suggestions:
For die hard Disney+ fans, whose subscription is non-negotiable, the cheapest subscription for you is going to be Standard+ paid annually.
For people who love specific series, like Only Murders In The Building, the Disney+ Standard with Ads will work out the cheapest, if you purchase it for a 10 months or less a year and rotate in other entertainment subscriptions.
No matter how you choose your Disney+ subscription we recommend looking around for offers to drive that subscription cost down further. For example, if you shop in Tesco and have a Clubcard, you can use £9 of Clubcard vouchers for 3 months free Disney+. This would even give the Disney+ superfans a saving. By combining 3 months free with a monthly subscription to Disney+ Standard with Ads you would pay a total of £53.91.
The latest Disney+ price rise is not going to be welcome by anyone, and it will leave many people reassessing their entertainment subscriptions. It could be time to weigh up which streaming service truly delivers the most value for your household.
