In a move that’s left many fans surprised, Disneyland Paris has quietly limited access to its flagship Disneyland Hotel, allowing entry only to registered guests and those with dining or experience reservations.

What’s Happening?

The newly refurbished five-star Disneyland Hotel, which reopened in early 2024 after a royal themed makeover, is now closed to casual visitors.

Only guests with:

  • A confirmed hotel booking,

  • A restaurant reservation at La Table de Lumiere or Royal Banquet,

  • Or a My Royal Dream experience,

will be able to enter.

This change means visitors can no longer freely explore the hotel’s lobby, boutiques, or bar areas unless they meet one of those criteria.

Why Fans Are Talking

This decision has divided opinions online. Supporters say it helps protect the premium experience for paying guests, while others argue that Disney hotels have always been a part of the public magi offering a place to unwind with a drink or to explore the decor after a day in the parks.

As a comparison, at Disney World guests are free to get off the monorail and experience the lobby, shops, and dining at The Grand Floridian, The Polynesian, or The Contemporary without restriction.

Many UK fans are especially disappointed that this restriction has come in just as the festive season is set to begin in Disneyland Paris. The hotel’s Christmas decorations and new “Keeper of Time and Light” show were set to be highlights for those staying off-site.

However, for UK visitors paying to stay in the Disneyland Hotel, the experience has jus got a lot more exclusive, which is what you would expect from a five-star hotel stay. It will also be quieter in the lobby area which will add to the experience for guests.

What This Means For Your Disneyland Paris Trip

If you’re heading to Disneyland Paris this winter, you may need to adjust your expectations and plan ahead if you’re desperate to take a look around the Disneyland Hotel. You’ll need a dining or experience reservation, which means getting that reservation at the 60 day point, when reservations open for your trip.

Don’t expect this rule to change anytime soon. This will definitely stay in place over the busy Christmas period, and will probably be a permanent rule now. Especially with the rebrand of Walt Disney Studios Park and new areas opening in Spring 2026.

Magic In A Minute

The Disneyland Hotel is a guest only location, so if you are not staying or dining there you can no longer gain entry. UK visitors will have to admire the fairy-tale charm of this beautiful building from outside only.
